[00:00:02.916]a number of topics including licensing,
[00:00:05.116]labels, and records.
[00:00:08.076]You’re here today participating
[00:00:09.914]in training because you want to acquire
[00:00:12.194]a private applicator license.
[00:00:13.866]That license is intended for
[00:00:15.816]agricultural production only.
[00:00:18.246]Your typical situations would be for use
[00:00:20.656]in row crops, pasture settings, perhaps
[00:00:24.566]if you’re growing grapes, rodent control
[00:00:26.856]if you’re needing to control prairie dogs
[00:00:29.116]or pocket gophers, and
[00:00:30.579]including fumigation even.
[00:00:32.269]So it’s a very broad license, but
[00:00:35.249]it is not intended for a number of things–
[00:00:37.649]for instance: treating termites
[00:00:39.419]in your home, mosquito control,
[00:00:41.319]or city parks type work. It is for use
[00:00:43.519]on land which either you own or you rent.
[00:00:47.369]It’s valid for approximately three years,
[00:00:50.719]so the license that you acquire this year
[00:00:53.079]will expire April 15 three years from now.
[00:00:55.729]It's a personal license, not intended
[00:00:58.432]for multiple people. It’s kind of like
[00:01:00.642]a driver’s license – each person
[00:01:02.432]has their own. The minimum age
[00:01:04.412]for acquiring a license will be 16, and
[00:01:07.402]it does not allow for custom farming;
[00:01:09.712]again that takes a separate license
[00:01:11.762]from the Department of Agriculture
[00:01:13.952]called a commercial applicator license.
[00:01:18.722]The 60-Day Rule
[00:01:22.230]There is a provision in the Nebraska
[00:01:24.330]Pesticide Act that allows for an exemption
[00:01:27.360]for applicators who don’t have
[00:01:29.150]an applicator’s license.
[00:01:30.790]We call them Non-Certified Applicators.
[00:01:33.740]This is a once in a lifetime opportunity
[00:01:35.980]so if you have ever previously been
[00:01:38.080]certified, you do not qualify.
[00:01:40.090]You must complete training
[00:01:41.860]with a licensed supervisor and
[00:01:43.690]you must complete and send in
[00:01:45.570]the required paperwork to
[00:01:47.240]the Nebraska Department of Ag
[00:01:49.120]within 10 days of your
[00:01:50.500]first pesticide application.
[00:01:52.070]This non-certified applicator exemption
[00:01:54.380]is good for 60 days from the time
[00:01:56.469]of your first application.
