[00:00:07.400]edition of Inside Nebraska Business.
[00:00:10.260]This spring has flown by with much to celebrate,
[00:00:13.630]including opportunities to meet
[00:00:15.450]more of our alumni and friends.
[00:00:18.230]We've started a new strategic
[00:00:20.070]planning process for the college.
[00:00:22.020]Nearly 60 alumni, faculty, staff, and students
[00:00:26.080]have been working on the plan with
[00:00:27.670]the help of external facilitators.
[00:00:30.190]There are some audacious goals,
[00:00:31.960]such as engaging in a meaningful way
[00:00:34.210]with all 38 thousand living alumni
[00:00:36.760]of the college on an annual basis.
[00:00:39.470]So does watching this video count as meaningful engagement?

[00:00:52.115]For the 31st year, we held our
[00:00:53.670]annual New Venture Competition.
[00:00:55.940]Nearly 120 students pitched their
[00:00:58.330]business plan to business partners
[00:01:00.230]and alumni, who judged the competition.
[00:01:02.900]A total of 75 thousand dollars
[00:01:04.760]was awarded to winners in two divisions.

[00:01:08.568]Many accounting students in an auditing class
[00:01:11.360]helped with an experiment using
[00:01:13.280]areal imaging to audit inventory.
[00:01:16.120]The project was a huge success
[00:01:17.500]from both a research standpoint
[00:01:18.960]and that it generated a lot of
[00:01:20.160]really interesting data that can shed light on this question
[00:01:22.740]and it was also a huge success
[00:01:23.870]from a pedagogical standpoint
[00:01:25.540]because my students got to have
[00:01:26.740]some hands on experience with
[00:01:28.070]technologies that auditors are using in practice.

[00:01:32.720]of technology to solve a business problem.

[00:01:38.700]commemorated 30 years in April.
[00:01:40.830]To celebrate, we held a two-day
[00:01:43.010]International Business Summit
[00:01:44.450]to connect alumni with employers
[00:01:46.610]doing business on a global scale.
[00:01:49.090]Throughout the summit, we have
[00:01:50.746]an opportunity to talk with students,
[00:01:52.810]to think about what's been working
[00:01:54.450]and how it needs to improve, we're
[00:01:56.100]talking to faculty members and we all came together
[00:01:58.230]in a room to share about some of
[00:02:00.210]the best practices in international business
[00:02:02.980]and opportunities to sort of reset
[00:02:05.760]and recalculate, and then accelerate to the next step.

[00:02:16.530]four distinguished university alumni
[00:02:18.770]shared their perspectives during
[00:02:20.370]our sixth Executive Insights event.

[00:02:24.950]and Department of Finance, the event
[00:02:26.920]provided both students and professionals
[00:02:29.470]insight on issues business leaders face.

[00:02:35.730]who help guide the college were
[00:02:37.380]back for our spring meetings.
[00:02:39.580]We also had our Annual Advisory Board Awards Luncheon,
[00:02:43.410]where we recognized those who
[00:02:45.150]set high standards of achievement
[00:02:46.860]for the entire Nebraska business community.
[00:02:50.130]Shari Andrews received the Business Leadership Award
[00:02:53.110]but will be accepting at the partnership summit in October.
[00:02:56.550]Steve Dugger received the Young Alumni Award.
[00:03:00.160]Time sure flies.
[00:03:02.100]I'm thankful for all my professors here,
[00:03:03.690]especially those in the College of Business Administration.
[00:03:06.340]The Corporate Leadership Award went to NRC Health.
[00:03:09.420]We truly value our partnership with the university.
[00:03:13.470]It's one of the ways we give back to the community.
[00:03:16.980]We really appreciate the access
[00:03:19.810]that we have to some of the best talent in the country.

[00:03:25.110]the Lifetime Achievement Award.
[00:03:27.310]And I was lucky to choose the College of Business
[00:03:29.640]because the education that I received in this college
[00:03:33.900]has helped me very much through my entire career.
