- [00:00:04.320]We are dry land, no till farmers.
- [00:00:07.208]We have wheat, millet, barley,
- [00:00:09.767]sweet pea, and oat hay, and then we have some sorghums.
- [00:00:12.909]And part of that, is cover crop for summer grazing
- [00:00:16.480]for our cattle, and also winter grazing for our cattle.
- [00:00:20.777]My husband and I do most of the work ourselves.
- [00:00:22.909]In the summertime we have a granddaughter
- [00:00:24.848]that comes out and helps us once in a while.
- [00:00:26.859]I run tractors.
- [00:00:28.417]Whether that's for planting, or swaffing, or grain cart.
- [00:00:33.069]Check cattle, move cattle, fix fence,
- [00:00:35.878]fixed a lot of fence in my day.
- [00:00:37.939]Kind of like any other farm wife, I'm a go-to person.
- [00:00:40.960]If you need a part, I go to town and get it for them.
- [00:00:46.520]Watch the cattle in the summertime.
- [00:00:48.299]And then checking once a day,
- [00:00:49.537]making sure the electric fence is all up.
- [00:00:52.589]Women in Ag.
- [00:00:53.920]I started I think about 12 years ago,
- [00:00:55.708]and I went, and of course, I fell in love with it.
- [00:00:58.418]It's a great organization and you learn so much from it.
- [00:01:02.976]I guess maybe that's the key, is it makes us a team.
- [00:01:07.207]She just is better equipped to help with those decisions.
- [00:01:12.308]To understand what we're doing and why doing it.
- [00:01:14.927]And two years ago, I took my granddaughter,
- [00:01:17.000]and she fell in love with it, she can't wait to go back.
- [00:01:19.608]I think Women in Ag is really cool,
- [00:01:21.200]because it lets you know that you're
- [00:01:23.480]a super vital part of every operation.
- [00:01:26.400]Every operation has it's women.
- [00:01:28.400]Whether they make lunch and bring it out to the field,
- [00:01:31.000]or they're running tractors.
- [00:01:32.440]I think it's just really cool,
- [00:01:33.709]because it's bunch of women there
- [00:01:36.017]realizing that we're really important in what we do.
- [00:01:38.939]You know that you're all in the same boat,
- [00:01:41.537]you're all going for the same goal.
- [00:01:44.498]I'm cutting the ends right now.
- [00:01:46.549]I just encourage everybody to come, you learn so much.
- [00:01:50.499]And I think that's great for all
- [00:01:52.200]sorts of women, young and old,
- [00:01:54.099]to figure out how they can be better for their operation
- [00:01:57.498]and be a better person in the ag world.
