[00:00:04.042]and I'm the Robert W. Brighfelt Professor
[00:00:06.019]of Mechanical and Materials Engineering.
[00:00:07.644]I'm also the Director of
[00:00:09.387]the Nano-Engineering Research Core facility,
[00:00:11.692]and it was an investment by the state
[00:00:13.317]and the university in experimental equipment.
[00:00:16.840]This facility has a lot of unique instrumentation
[00:00:19.799]that doesn't exist, some of it,
[00:00:21.103]within maybe a 500 mile radius of Lincoln.
[00:00:24.930]So, it really gives an opportunity for researchers
[00:00:28.006]in the region within the university and the state
[00:00:31.311]to advance their own research by using these tools.
[00:00:34.300]And, we've only been open effectively for almost a year
[00:00:38.231]and we have right now, over 120 users.
[00:00:40.852]We have, like, users from, like,
[00:00:42.118]either from this institution or other institutions
[00:00:44.979]or even, like, companies that come here
[00:00:47.679]to use our stuff, which is really nice.
[00:00:49.132]The industry would be interested in our facility
[00:00:50.968]because, for one reason, the great equipment that we have,
[00:00:54.351]and it also helps them have a better understanding
[00:00:56.476]of the research that's going on in Nebraska,
[00:00:58.393]and the third interest, I think, would be from our students.
[00:01:01.593]We're recruiting students that have expertise
[00:01:03.989]that can directly impact them
[00:01:05.969]and I think getting internships and jobs for our students
[00:01:10.674]is a great aspect of our facility.
