[00:00:05.672]It's pretty popular stock right now, isn't it?
[00:00:08.041]Yeah.
[00:00:09.078]When we first start the stock market game,
[00:00:10.877]I typically spend about two good weeks,
[00:00:13.836]all class period long, focusing on the stock market.
[00:00:16.762]Definitions, terminology, using research tools,
[00:00:20.430]showing them things that are available to them,
[00:00:22.753]talking about things that they need to think about
[00:00:25.233]when they invest, and then after that,
[00:00:27.897]the rest of the stock market game,
[00:00:29.537]we typically spend about five to ten minutes
[00:00:32.067]at the beginning of the class for them
[00:00:33.813]to review what's been happening with their stocks.
[00:00:36.319]It gives me a little suggestion
[00:00:38.493]if I should buy or not with the slidey thing.
[00:00:41.121]And then we spend just a few minutes discussing
[00:00:43.972]with the kids how their stocks are looking.
[00:00:46.359]One of our stocks crashed, and I think it was Disney,
[00:00:48.437]'cause we bought a lot of Disney,
[00:00:50.259]and then one time it just, like,
[00:00:51.601]totally dropped and we lost a lot of money.
[00:00:53.587]We researched to help us buy more stocks
[00:00:56.057]to get us back to where we should have been.

[00:01:14.188]to purchase stocks when I'm older.

[00:01:18.234]and look at your stocks, see if you improved,

[00:01:36.998]I like the stock market game
[00:01:38.364]because the kids interact with their parents,
[00:01:40.995]interact with each other, trying to figure out
[00:01:43.104]which stocks to purchase, if they're gonna go
[00:01:45.135]with mutual funds or bonds.
[00:01:47.010]They learn so many math skills
[00:01:48.464]and Social Studies skills that I teach with it,
[00:01:50.588]they have to keep track of their portfolios
[00:01:52.958]and it's a blast.
[00:01:54.344]We have so much fun doing it
[00:01:55.860]and the kids, you know, daily I have to post
[00:01:58.852]how they're sitting in the state and it's awesome.

[00:02:08.323]We weren't real confident at the beginning,
[00:02:10.123]but we gained confidence and I think that helped us a lot.
[00:02:13.386]I'm definitely interested in business classes
[00:02:16.177]and all, like, business in general.
[00:02:17.975]So, definitely knowing something new about stocks,
[00:02:20.665]I definitely learned a lot of stuff about it
[00:02:22.964]and I definitely would like to continue in college,

[00:02:28.206]One of the greatest things students learn
[00:02:29.818]from participating in the stock market game
[00:02:31.566]is not only about the idea of finance
[00:02:33.898]and research, and looking into companies
[00:02:36.740]that they are relating to and that they are familiar with,
[00:02:39.635]but they learn cooperation, they learn collaboration,
[00:02:42.434]and they learn great leadership skills
[00:02:44.149]because they're working together
[00:02:45.205]as a team to make decisions.
[00:02:47.103]That is gonna benefit them in the long run.
