- [00:00:00.508](hip-hop beats)
- [00:00:02.877]Welcome back, halftime here,
- [00:00:04.160]the Huskers game with South Dakota,
- [00:00:05.591]Greg Sharp back in the Husker network studios,
- [00:00:07.382]joined now by the University of Nebraska Lincoln Chancellor,
- [00:00:09.980]Ronnie Green.
- [00:00:11.147]Unbelievably, we are winding down a semester.
- [00:00:14.248]And this is a good time I think, to remind all students
- [00:00:16.343]to get out there and take care of themselves
- [00:00:17.841]before these final exams get going.
- [00:00:19.609]Well, that's right.
- [00:00:20.674]They come back from Thanksgiving, a little holiday,
- [00:00:23.624]and then look at the last few weeks of the tunnel,
- [00:00:26.127]down to finals week and eventually commencement.
- [00:00:29.449]So we're right in the middle of that,
- [00:00:31.189]and trying to wind down academic pursuits and projects
- [00:00:34.923]and term projects and all that kind of thing.
- [00:00:37.008]So health and wellness and keeping up is important
- [00:00:40.681]this time of year and even more so as the seasons change.
- [00:00:43.952]And things that come and go with that.
- [00:00:46.395]So it's important to our students.
- [00:00:49.068]We were really, really excited for them too,
- [00:00:52.326]because we've had a long term planning effort going on
- [00:00:56.532]around our student health center the last several years
- [00:00:59.725]at UNL.
- [00:01:00.920]Our current health center over in the main part of campus
- [00:01:03.785]is long out-dated and under capacity for what we need
- [00:01:07.914]in our system.
- [00:01:09.592]And we're very pleased that on December the ninth,
- [00:01:12.898]we're going to be breaking ground on a,
- [00:01:15.384]what will become, we think, a fabulous new facility
- [00:01:18.390]that'll be joint to house our student health center at UNL,
- [00:01:22.886]now operated by Nebraska Medicine in concert with UNMC
- [00:01:26.764]in Omaha.
- [00:01:28.182]And the other half of that big new facility
- [00:01:31.409]is going to be the new home for the Lincoln division
- [00:01:34.610]of the UNMC's nursing college.
- [00:01:36.924]So the Lincoln component of that,
- [00:01:39.054]they've been off campus here for several years,
- [00:01:41.566]in rented space in downtown Lincoln.
- [00:01:44.517]Years ago, they were in Benton and Fairfield halls
- [00:01:47.746]on our campus and outgrew those facilities.
- [00:01:51.033]So seeing this partnership come together,
- [00:01:53.222]where Nebraska Medicine is delivering
- [00:01:55.222]our student health center activities for our students,
- [00:01:59.217]and the new home for Lincoln Nursing,
- [00:02:01.453]is exciting to see happen.
- [00:02:03.357]Absolutely great addition to the school,
- [00:02:04.968]particularly the growing enrollment you're gonna
- [00:02:06.498]need to have facilities to take care
- [00:02:08.070]of all these new students.
- [00:02:09.537]As we get more and more high quality students
- [00:02:11.908]at the university, keeping their wellness in mind,
- [00:02:14.301]and having a state-of-the-art
- [00:02:15.913]student health center facilities is important.
- [00:02:19.548]Our listeners,
- [00:02:22.162]will see this facility taking shape
- [00:02:24.830]on the Antelope Valley Parkway,
- [00:02:28.501]just south of the Beadle Center on city campus.
- [00:02:31.694]So there's already a little construction going on there
- [00:02:34.413]that they'll see in that area.
- [00:02:36.530]That's where that home of that new facility will be,
- [00:02:39.051]close to the home of a lot of our students
- [00:02:40.994]in the residence halls in that part of campus as well.
- [00:02:43.961]So we couldn't be more excited about it.
- [00:02:45.979]Couldn't be more excited about the partnership
- [00:02:47.807]with the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
- [00:02:49.987]And working together with them in ever greater ways
- [00:02:52.682]as we move forward.
- [00:02:53.922]Thank you so much for sharing, have a great week.
- [00:02:55.924]Have a great week, go men's basketball, beat the Coyotes.
- [00:02:58.972]There you go, University of Nebraska Lincoln Chancellor,
- [00:03:00.870]Ronnie Green, with us here at halftime.
- [00:03:02.459]Kent and Matt back with the second half next.
