- [00:00:27.420]which actually began in the History department in 1970.

- [00:00:37.732]He was actually the inaugural director of the honors program
- [00:00:41.633]and he served in every capacity since then,
- [00:00:46.308]overseeing curriculum for over 3,000 honors students.
- [00:00:52.816]In countless meetings,
- [00:00:55.968]countless committees,
- [00:00:58.652]task forces, he's always been an advocate
- [00:01:02.132]for all our undergraduates,
- [00:01:06.087]and for their development as scholars.
- [00:01:09.976]He's held all of us accountable,
- [00:01:13.724]including the Dean,
- [00:01:16.276]to a high standard of mentoring students
- [00:01:19.560]through teaching and research.
