[00:00:21.567]And I don't think a leader always has all the right ideas.

[00:00:31.579]I see myself one, helping the chancellor.
[00:00:35.001]Achieve the goals he set out,
[00:00:36.712]and being part of his, a partner with him
[00:00:39.354]is a really exciting opportunity.
[00:00:41.397]Secondly I see myself as a champion for the colleges
[00:00:44.524]and all the academic programs on this campus.
[00:00:47.330]I wanna marshal all those efforts and that energy
[00:00:50.702]to achieving amazing outcomes.
[00:00:53.137]And thirdly, I see myself as a champion for the students.
[00:00:56.436]We want to put our efforts together
[00:00:58.635]to have a complete and total experience for students
[00:01:01.443]when they come to Nebraska.
[00:01:02.819]Inside the classroom and outside the classroom.
[00:01:05.178]So those are the three ways in which
[00:01:06.564]I see myself focusing in these early days.
[00:01:12.495]There are three things that are gonna be important to me
[00:01:15.541]as we move forward.
[00:01:17.207]As I move forward in this new role.
[00:01:18.877]One, the idea of excellence.
[00:01:21.197]What is our standard of excellence?
[00:01:23.028]We need to be excellent in everything that we do.
[00:01:26.370]Our teaching, our research, our customer service
[00:01:29.170]to students and their parents.
[00:01:30.795]So excellence is huge.
[00:01:32.383]The second one is a sense of community.
[00:01:34.735]I want us to work hard and double down our efforts
[00:01:37.254]on building community.
[00:01:39.488]Communities in departments, in dorm floors, in colleges.
[00:01:43.778]What's a sense of community?
[00:01:45.790]That's really important.
[00:01:46.966]And the third thing is what is our impact?
[00:01:49.771]We've gotta aim really high.
[00:01:51.405]Our impact needs to be Nebraska and the world.
[00:01:54.901]So how are we gonna measure that?

[00:01:57.216]Those are the things I'm really excited about.
[00:02:00.948]Nebraskans expect big things of us.
[00:02:04.660]Our alumns themselves have done big and bold things.
[00:02:08.941]But in a quiet way.
[00:02:10.487]And that's kind of how we're gonna do it
[00:02:11.706]right here at Nebraska.
[00:02:13.188]We're gonna do big things,
[00:02:14.532]solve important problems,
[00:02:16.161]but we're gonna do it the Nebraska way.
