[00:00:04.642]So we're here at the Senior Design Showcase.
[00:00:07.011]It's kind of the, show everybody what we've been learning
[00:00:10.508]throughout the year, and how we can apply it to everything.
[00:00:12.643]There's the initiative in New Ghana where they take
[00:00:15.544]plastic drinking straws and then they weave them
[00:00:17.752]into baskets and purses, just like this.
[00:00:21.121]They asked us to come up with a straw flattening device
[00:00:24.696]for the women in New Ghana.
[00:00:26.307]I always wanted to make a difference.
[00:00:28.557]And I really think that this project gave us
[00:00:31.075]the ability to make a difference in these women's lives.
[00:00:34.238]One of the unique features of this event is that
[00:00:37.217]this being the only college of engineering in
[00:00:39.832]the state of Nebraska, it gives an opportunity for our
[00:00:42.680]students to really showcase what they can do.
[00:00:45.600]My senior design project is the anti-tipping walker.
[00:00:48.611]We found it pretty interesting.
[00:00:50.552]We all have family members who use a walker so
[00:00:53.411]we thought it was a good project to start with.
[00:00:56.172]We chose to do an aerodynamic project because a lot
[00:00:58.968]of the members on our team are interested in aerospace.
[00:01:01.856]So we really want to work in that industry.
[00:01:03.744]I chose engineering because I wanted to be in a field
[00:01:06.677]where I could help others.
[00:01:08.523]When you're in the middle of the engineering curriculum
[00:01:10.528]it's pretty tough.
[00:01:11.552]You're pretty busy.
[00:01:12.523]A lot of people pull all-nighters.
[00:01:14.368]Lots of projects all at once, and so this is kind of
[00:01:17.024]like the end-all of your education.
