- [00:00:12.783]Among its goals for the 2012-2013 school year

- [00:00:20.914]The school values hard work in the classroom - by both students and teachers -

- [00:00:31.802]The Embedded Institute was well-suited to help achieve this goal.
- [00:00:35.552]The North Star Embedded Institute was a unique, 45-hour program
- [00:00:39.611]that incorporated three main features of the National Writing Project:
- [00:00:43.387]Writing groups for sharing, celebrating, and developing the teachers' own writing;
- [00:00:48.355]EQUIPS, for sharing the teachers' expertise, questions, and concerns in their teaching;
- [00:00:54.473]and professional inquiry, through selective reading and discussion.
- [00:00:58.211]Keeping with Nebraska Writing Project values, the embedded institute believes
- [00:01:02.054]that the best teachers of writing are writers themselves.
- [00:01:05.111]Teachers worked with other teachers to develop their own writing
- [00:01:08.063]and connect the process to their students.
- [00:01:10.321]The network of teachers from across the disciplines formed at the institute
- [00:01:13.934]creates a place for teachers to draw from collective expertise
- [00:01:17.387]and that support benefits the teachers as well as their students.

- [00:02:25.707]With the help of the embedded institute, North Star made steps to meet the goal

- [00:02:33.996]With further support, the Nebraska Writing Project hopes to meet their goal
- [00:02:38.114]to bring the embedded institute to as many Nebraska schools as possible.
