Description

History professor Carole Levin talks about her new play "We princes, I tell you, are set on stages": Elizabeth I in Her Own Words. The play will be performed 7:30 PM, Feb. 25, 2017 and at 2 PM, Feb. 26 in the Great Plains Art Center.

[00:00:03.705]about Elizabeth I, it's a one act about 50 or 55 minutes,
[00:00:07.597]but what's exciting to me is that I think it's still
[00:00:09.970]very dramatic, I think, in parts, they're very funny,
[00:00:12.536]but it is also historically accurate.
[00:00:14.709]As I wrote the play I was surrounded by books
[00:00:18.417]checking out what actually happened and putting as much
[00:00:21.994]in Elizabeth I's own words as possible.
[00:00:25.880]So, it's exciting in that way and
[00:00:27.654]it looks at Elizabeth at the end of her reign
[00:00:29.904]as she talks to her lady in waiting
[00:00:32.159]and thinks back about both the triumphs
[00:00:34.447]and the difficulties throughout her life.
