[00:00:34.000]For example, one of the things that Canvas
[00:00:36.111]currently doesn't do to my stunning surprise
[00:00:38.829]is give you any way to look at the average grade
[00:00:42.278]of your students, or the distribution
[00:00:44.651]of the final letter grade of your students,
[00:00:46.589]which seems like the obvious thing that an LMS would do.
[00:00:50.165]But why that's okay is that Canvas has this system
[00:00:53.091]for feedback, and they're fairly responsive to that.
[00:00:55.491]As a user, you can post that on a forum,
[00:00:57.440]get other people to vote for that,
[00:00:59.290]you can feed it to UNL support staff
[00:01:01.344]and they can feed it to Canvas,
[00:01:03.130]and Canvas is constantly rolling out new features
[00:01:06.808]that go live to everybody all the time.
[00:01:09.527]In Blackboard, it would sit there,
[00:01:11.633]and they would think about it, and a year later,
[00:01:13.690]they'd write the new version, but then we'd have
[00:01:15.739]to trial the version for a year
[00:01:16.945]before they released it.
[00:01:18.144]When you identified a problem, it might be
[00:01:20.086]two years before that problem gets fixed.
[00:01:23.054]I had an instance when we were doing pre-trials on Canvas
[00:01:26.599]where we had a problem, and two weeks later
[00:01:28.260]it was fixed and enacted in the software.
[00:01:30.607]That's pretty cool.
