- [00:00:00.392](slow music)
- [00:00:03.971]So right now I have an internship
- [00:00:05.701]with HDR in their electrical section
- [00:00:08.518]of the architecture company.
- [00:00:10.659]With that, I've had the opportunity now
- [00:00:12.760]to work on a lot of cool projects.
- [00:00:14.989]I'm learning some new computer softwares
- [00:00:17.080]and just gain experience that
- [00:00:20.560]is stuff that you can't learn in the classroom.
- [00:00:22.859]As an intern, there's kind of that misconception
- [00:00:25.348]that you're just running around making coffee
- [00:00:27.257]and getting coffee all day
- [00:00:28.880]and in reality that's not true.
- [00:00:31.059]You're able to really have an impact and make a difference
- [00:00:34.008]in the project and do real relative work
- [00:00:36.179]even as a student.
- [00:00:38.189]With the internship, in addition to the technical skills
- [00:00:40.528]I've learned, it's a lot of communication skills
- [00:00:45.034]have been enhanced, be it,
- [00:00:48.891]you always have to ask questions.
- [00:00:51.726]There's a lot of stuff I'm learning that is new
- [00:00:55.208]that I've never done before.
- [00:00:59.127]Engineering to me is problem solving
- [00:01:03.817]and I would say that because
- [00:01:05.726]when you're working on a project you have
- [00:01:07.476]what the client wants and it's your job
- [00:01:09.196]to figure out the best looking,
- [00:01:13.497]most economical and most efficient way
- [00:01:16.745]of going about solving that problem
- [00:01:18.806]and there's so many different ways
- [00:01:20.749]you can go about doing that.
