- [00:00:00.269]Coming up Mobile Learning in the Classroom Todo Math.
- [00:00:03.359](upbeat music)
- [00:00:17.119]Hi, I'm Zoe and today on Mobile Learning in the Classroom,
- [00:00:19.885]we're gonna look at Todo Math.
- [00:00:21.879]Todo Math is a math app geared towards
- [00:00:25.015]lower elementary age students,
- [00:00:26.938]and what I like about it is it's a great way to encourage
- [00:00:29.871]students to practice their math every day,
- [00:00:32.474]and because it's a game, they enjoy it.
- [00:00:35.365]So there are a couple different options within Todo Math,
- [00:00:38.414]and the first one that I'm gonna talk about
- [00:00:39.980]is the Daily Adventure.
- [00:00:41.649]And when you pick on Daily Adventure, it's gonna guide you
- [00:00:44.546]through and you go through and it has a game feel,
- [00:00:49.677]and it shows you the different motions
- [00:00:51.716]of what you're gonna do.
- [00:00:54.198]This one here is going to have you draw the number one,
- [00:00:59.859]and now you're going to draw the number two.
- [00:01:08.446]And again, it gives you points for that.
- [00:01:12.112]And then it'll move you along.
- [00:01:13.126]And as you can see, it's got this really neat game interface
- [00:01:16.831]that's full of bright colors and cute little critters.
- [00:01:21.147]So now it's gonna tell you to write the number.
- [00:01:27.961]Then if you can't write the number,
- [00:01:32.694]you can pull down the number two.
- [00:01:36.433]And again, it'll go through until you've completed
- [00:01:39.844]that Daily Adventure.
- [00:01:41.778]The other thing you can do is you can go to Free Choice,
- [00:01:45.272]and Free Choice shows you all sorts of different types
- [00:01:48.527]of math that you can do.
- [00:01:49.724]So if you know that your students are working on a specific
- [00:01:53.378]math set, you can suggest that they work on Free Choice
- [00:01:58.232]within what that is, or you can assign them to work at home.
- [00:02:02.397]Or for parents, if you know what your students
- [00:02:04.661]are working on in school, you can help facilitate that
- [00:02:07.943]by working on those same things through the app.
- [00:02:12.472]If we go to something, Quick Adding, and we say Start.
- [00:02:19.302]And zero plus zero is zero, and I can drag the number down
- [00:02:23.366]or I can write in the answer.
- [00:02:29.617]And again it'll show me, and if I get it wrong,
- [00:02:36.787]it'll let me do it again until I get it right.
- [00:02:42.263]One of the other things on the app is you can do a Mission.
- [00:02:45.634]And again, this is a really great way to motivate
- [00:02:48.309]your students to do because you can talk about
- [00:02:50.226]completing a mission and really kind of hit
- [00:02:52.230]that game angle on it and encourage them to go through
- [00:02:57.409]the dailies to get them ready for their mission.
- [00:03:01.520]Again we're touching and now it's two.
- [00:03:07.812]And the other great thing is there's a sense
- [00:03:10.107]of instant feedback with it, so they know right away,
- [00:03:14.113]and they get to see the stars,
- [00:03:16.336]and it shows them what to do.
- [00:03:17.614]So I'm pulling one and two and then one,
- [00:03:23.889]one, see?
- [00:03:28.886]One of the things for parents that's nice
- [00:03:31.359]is you can go into the Parent section
- [00:03:35.100]and it'll show you your child's progress
- [00:03:37.980]so you can see what they've done,
- [00:03:40.816]you can set goals for them, and it's a great way
- [00:03:44.192]to just be able to know where you child is at
- [00:03:47.481]and what you need to help them focus on
- [00:03:49.664]as they move forward.
- [00:03:53.209]You also can collect monsters, and monsters are collected
- [00:03:57.283]through doing missions and through daily completion.
- [00:04:00.536]So the students still have something to work for
- [00:04:03.256]and work towards even as they're completing
- [00:04:05.361]the internal levels as they go along.
- [00:04:08.981]So one of the other things with Free Choice is there are
- [00:04:12.551]so many different options for your students that you can
- [00:04:15.999]have them do something different every day.
- [00:04:18.134]Or if they find one they really like, they can keep doing
- [00:04:20.522]that one until they reach mastery.
- [00:04:22.745]So again Todo Math has some great options
- [00:04:25.626]really geared towards those early math learners
- [00:04:28.426]and it's progressive so you can move further up
- [00:04:31.307]from just basic writing out numbers, identifying numbers,
- [00:04:34.842]counting skills, to some adding and subtracting.
- [00:04:39.201]And they get to do it in multiple ways.
- [00:04:41.133]They get to draw the number with their finger,
- [00:04:43.110]they can identify it and drag it down,
- [00:04:45.989]and there's a game inside of it.
- [00:04:48.374]They can work towards earning monsters,
- [00:04:49.979]and as a parent you can track their progress.
- [00:04:52.368]So this is Todo Math and thank you.
