[00:00:07.280]We build these tractors for a competition
[00:00:08.990]that is held in Peoria, Illinois.
[00:00:11.232]It is hosted by ASABE,
[00:00:13.585]which is the American Society of Agriculture
[00:00:15.955]and Biological Engineers.
[00:00:17.775]We have pulling events, we have maneuverability.
[00:00:20.792]We're judged for serviceability or ergonomics.
[00:00:23.564]You're just kind of everything that you would consider
[00:00:25.244]when looking at a real product,
[00:00:27.448]they try to judge us on with this tractor.
[00:00:29.848]Before we go downstairs and build our tractor,
[00:00:32.444]we have to design all the parts in a SOD model,
[00:00:35.220]so we design everything from the seat.
[00:00:37.968]Even though we source the steering wheel,
[00:00:39.448]we still have to have the steering wheel and the
[00:00:41.548]steering column and everything in our SOD model.
[00:00:43.466]But you can rotate it 360 degrees, pretty much any way
[00:00:46.308]you want, so we can see how everything's
[00:00:47.880]gonna work together.
[00:00:48.867]A lot of the industry uses Solidworks,
[00:00:51.540]so a program that's really similar to it,
[00:00:53.144]especially if you're in design, this is a really, really
[00:00:55.512]valuable skill to have.
[00:00:56.700]We're also fortunate here to have
[00:00:59.021]the Nebraska Tractor Test Lab,
[00:01:00.300]it's the only one in the western hemisphere,
[00:01:02.037]and that gives us the ability to work with
[00:01:04.292]a lot more instrumentation than a lot of teams.
[00:01:06.784]That's a really unique advantage to
[00:01:08.912]our quarter scale team over many others is
[00:01:11.012]the resources that we have here
[00:01:13.124]at the University of Nebraska.
[00:01:14.997]Nebraska has consistently done very well.
[00:01:17.144]We were Top 10 finish for almost 10 years running,
[00:01:20.176]so any advice I'd give to someone coming here is
[00:01:22.484]try a lot of things to find out what you want to do.
[00:01:25.472]College is about developing your skills
[00:01:28.260]but also developing you.
