[00:00:06.737]but we also do a little bit
[00:00:07.630]with ground and water vehicles as well.
[00:00:09.788]In this lab some of the applications,
[00:00:11.082]just a few that we work on,
[00:00:12.473]are starting fires for prescribed burns
[00:00:14.829]with unmanned aerial vehicles,
[00:00:16.182]water sampling,
[00:00:17.786]wireless power transfer
[00:00:19.461]and also data collection.
[00:00:20.662]So things that you could use for infrastructure.
[00:00:23.748]And a different application,
[00:00:25.162]the UAV FF can actually provide more safety.
[00:00:27.726]So it can save people's lives
[00:00:30.286]by not asking them to do things that are really dangerous.
[00:00:32.750]We're also using it in a medical context.
[00:00:34.969]We're looking at how to actually
[00:00:36.858]make medical interactions better
[00:00:38.718]through bringing in family members
[00:00:40.934]who may be separated by time or distance.
[00:00:43.439]I think it's always surprising
[00:00:44.582]to high school students and to their parents
[00:00:45.994]to see what these vehicles could actually do
[00:00:47.778]out in the real world.
[00:00:48.614]That's something that we get them
[00:00:49.690]to think more broadly about.
[00:00:51.010]And engineering students are really good
[00:00:53.170]at picking up on new things
[00:00:54.790]that they can do with these technologies.
[00:00:56.202]We love getting students who are interested in drones
[00:00:59.497]and recreational hobby use of unmanned aerial vehicles.
