[00:03:33.441]so if you put like PhD at the end of this,
[00:03:35.946]it will show up at the end of your name
[00:03:38.694]on top of your, on top of the home page
[00:03:41.067]but it won't show up on like the whole department page
[00:03:43.908]where it's pulling in like you know, 50 people
[00:03:46.200]so there's certain things in certain areas
[00:03:48.007]where things are getting pulled in
[00:03:49.673]how we've designed the site for engineering purposes
[00:03:54.918]but the sort name puts you in the right order
[00:03:58.113]when it starts,
[00:03:59.197]when you're listed with 50 other people.
[00:04:01.560]You're gonna update your profile photo.
[00:04:03.436]You have access to go in here
[00:04:05.249]and actually do that as well.
[00:04:06.651]With everything that you're able to do,
[00:04:08.728]a lot of times there's a lot,
[00:04:10.603]there'll be some notes below it
[00:04:11.711]so if you were gonna go in
[00:04:13.251]and update your own image,
[00:04:14.441]you're more than welcome to do that.
[00:04:15.685]We give like ideal minimum size is 450 by 600 pixels
[00:04:21.377]so if you kind of have some kind of photo
[00:04:22.993]editing software,
[00:04:24.040]if you were gonna update it,
[00:04:25.456]it would look best if you did some of the photo editing
[00:04:28.080]to it.
[00:04:29.075]These are all things that I'm here to help out with
[00:04:30.721]as well.
[00:04:31.722]You are always welcome to send me stuff,

[00:04:36.918]One thing with an image,
[00:04:39.265]you'll notice that we have Vitaly's name in here,

[00:04:45.947]and accessibility UNL,
[00:04:47.780]all images have to have a,
[00:04:50.525]what's called alt text.
[00:04:52.024]Alt text is what people that would have,
[00:04:54.397]if you would be visually impaired,
[00:04:56.718]alt text is what reads the image to the user.
[00:05:01.784]So that user's not going to be able to see a photo
[00:05:04.971]of Vitaly but that person's gonna have
[00:05:07.516]a reader that says this is a photo of Vitaly essentially.

[00:05:39.099]coming out of the UNL directory
[00:05:41.048]and sometimes that information,
[00:05:42.646]I know in chemical I've seen this where
[00:05:45.071]like I'll add five new people
[00:05:48.080]and all them for the first month,
[00:05:50.164]the phone number is like the department phone number
[00:05:54.688]and that's what it says
[00:05:56.780]but that's what I post out there at least on day one.
[00:05:58.902]Then when we go to change it,
[00:06:00.098]we come over here,
[00:06:01.199]we change it here,
[00:06:02.189]and it updates on like five, six, seven different places.
[00:06:05.517]It'll update it on your page,
[00:06:07.060]it updates on the department page pulling it in,
[00:06:08.681]anywhere where your content's being pulled in,
[00:06:10.919]it's pulling it from that number
[00:06:12.663]so that's on our end,
[00:06:13.999]it's helpful to,
[00:06:15.038]if we have to change your phone number,
[00:06:16.351]it's nice to do it in one spot
[00:06:17.665]and not have to go in
[00:06:19.008]and this is a combination,
[00:06:23.360]this page, this is one template
[00:06:26.624]for faculty that was based off of
[00:06:28.189]when we designed this College of Engineering site
[00:06:31.077]two years ago,
[00:06:32.088]we brought together how every department
[00:06:34.501]was doing it separately before
[00:06:36.426]so you'll notice as you go down this,
[00:06:39.292]this is, I wish it wasn't a mile long
[00:06:41.024]but this is about a mile long of a form
[00:06:44.440]because I was combining all the options
[00:06:46.829]that Durham offered this thing on their faculty pages
[00:06:50.632]and BSE would do this thing on theirs
[00:06:53.127]and chemical did that.
[00:06:54.648]I kind of, it's a hodgepodge
[00:06:55.768]and I included it all
[00:06:56.837]so you may not use all these options
[00:06:59.005]but they're available to you.
[00:07:00.102]Personal links,
[00:07:01.309]I'll show these lab sites in a bit
[00:07:05.048]but we built the lab site for Vitaly.
[00:07:07.626]He puts that here,
[00:07:08.711]calls it research group site,
[00:07:10.580]puts in the URL
[00:07:12.072]and then underneath his photo,
[00:07:13.405]it just automatically puts the links there.
[00:07:15.448]It's all styled and looks the way that,
[00:07:17.717]that we want it to look.
[00:07:18.904]If you have professional memberships that you're a part of,
[00:07:21.365]you can put that in there.
[00:07:22.360]Facebook page, Twitter and LinkedIn.
[00:07:33.110]Right underneath here, by default,
[00:07:35.261]this is email and that's the email icon.
[00:07:37.537]If you have a Facebook page, if you have a Twitter page,
[00:07:40.008]a LinkedIn page,
[00:07:41.000]that will all show up there.

[00:07:43.910]Lily's is one that,
[00:07:49.963]so just by posting,
[00:07:51.106]just by pasting that in there
[00:07:52.460]then that starts to add that image to it
[00:07:54.348]so we keep going down,
[00:07:56.040]if you have a cv file,
[00:08:00.184]you can do that as a text file,
[00:08:01.732]a doc file, a docx or a pdf.
[00:08:04.702]The intention of the faculty page is
[00:08:08.219]you can make it look like a cv file
[00:08:11.096]but essentially the idea is not to have
[00:08:13.080]your page have,
[00:08:14.439]if you're gonna like show your last presentations,
[00:08:18.058]maybe show the last 10 to 15.
[00:08:19.631]If you're gonna show your last publications,
[00:08:21.546]maybe show the last 10 to 15.
[00:08:23.320]That's our goal.
[00:08:24.895]We don't have a specific standard
[00:08:27.160]and no one's gonna go in there
[00:08:28.427]and change your page
[00:08:29.430]but it's just a guideline we're saying
[00:08:30.690]is kind of show the last 10 to 15 there
[00:08:32.370]and then if you want everything that you've done
[00:08:34.657]to be out there,
[00:08:35.652]package it as a pdf or whatever,
[00:08:38.072]upload it here and you'll have a link that will say that.
[00:08:41.117]From a scheduling standpoint,
[00:08:44.696]this isn't, I'd like to have a better option
[00:08:47.102]at some point here
[00:08:48.170]but right now at least what we're doing is
[00:08:49.727]we had a request where somebody wanted to be able to
[00:08:52.536]post like an Excel file out there
[00:08:54.014]that was their schedule of whatever.

[00:09:02.843]and it can be a text file, doc, docx, pdf or Excel file.

[00:12:20.169]so but as far as just from a peer text standpoint,

[00:13:21.368]so the reason that you're showing up
[00:13:22.784]faculty page is because that thing's checked.
[00:13:27.728]If we uncheck that, all of a sudden you're not there
[00:13:29.542]so that kind of helps with all that
[00:13:32.450]and then we have different rules
[00:13:33.926]that you are in
[00:13:34.974]and if you were gonna be helping with advising,
[00:13:39.480]then if we check that,
[00:13:41.179]then all of a sudden you might be,
[00:13:43.057]you'd show up on an advising page for chemical
[00:13:47.202]so I mean it's not that,

[00:13:49.414]where you're located there so

[00:16:55.448]as long as they're part of the UNL directory,

[00:17:06.118]it's its own web site, almost no different
[00:17:07.859]than what the College of Engineering site is.

[00:18:19.574]and if you want to just create an entire page
[00:18:21.260]that goes in between the red bar
[00:18:23.101]and the gray bar,
[00:18:25.280]you can just start typing html in here
[00:18:27.574]or do whatever you want
[00:18:28.760]and you have access to the page
[00:18:29.875]or there are tools
[00:18:31.069]and so like we have called a promo image with a link,
[00:18:35.000]that's this big image along the top
[00:18:37.128]and Vitaly's updated, he uploads an image,
[00:18:40.708]you put your alt text in there saying what the image is,
[00:18:43.611]if you put a title over it like this,
[00:18:46.997]the title then
[00:18:48.504]ends up being this text right here so
[00:18:53.816]it's a nice little tool
[00:18:54.982]and then as you keep adding,
[00:18:56.258]if he wants to add a more,
[00:18:57.626]one, two or three more,
[00:18:58.632]just add that many more to the slideshow
