- [00:00:03.459]Hi, I'm Chris Ames from Omaha, Nebraska
- [00:00:05.919]majoring in economics, and I'm a senior
- [00:00:08.039]graduating from CBA.
- [00:00:10.139]And I'd like to introduce you to my mom, Cherie.
- [00:00:12.337]Mom, thanks for doing this interview with me.
- [00:00:14.077]You're so welcome.
- [00:00:15.377]So I'd just like to ask what were
- [00:00:17.198]some of the things that you thought about
- [00:00:19.137]that encouraged me to go to CBA.
- [00:00:21.837]Well, you're a Nebraska kid,
- [00:00:24.357]so we've always loved the university,
- [00:00:26.817]but I guess it was probably our first visit
- [00:00:31.132]to the campus, and visit CBA in particular.
- [00:00:34.737]We just really fell in love with it
- [00:00:37.517]and I think you just felt very comfortable here.
- [00:00:40.337]What were some of the worries you had
- [00:00:41.737]when I was going to college and how did
- [00:00:43.477]CBA address some of those?
- [00:00:45.437]You moving away from home was a difficult situation.
- [00:00:50.277]I was nervous for you.
- [00:00:51.757]I figured you would be okay,
- [00:00:53.757]but once walking around the campus
- [00:00:57.156]and getting introduced to some of the faculty and staff
- [00:01:03.330]kind of put me at ease knowing that
- [00:01:05.377]you were in good hands here.
- [00:01:07.077]How do you feel about our family's
- [00:01:08.577]overall experience with the College of Business?
- [00:01:11.178]I've been just extremely happy.
- [00:01:14.197]I remember first meeting Dean Plowman,
- [00:01:18.177]and I thought it was just...
- [00:01:20.437]I thought it was so cool to be able to
- [00:01:22.397]walk in her office and sit down
- [00:01:24.677]and have a nice conversation with her.
- [00:01:26.537]She was so personable and just made...
- [00:01:30.697]Like she really cared, like she was
- [00:01:34.437]so interested in what you wanted to pursue
- [00:01:37.557]and just having that one-on-one conversation with her.
- [00:01:41.837]Oh, I know it sealed the deal for me,
- [00:01:43.797]and I think when we walked out her door,
- [00:01:47.257]you kinda looked at me and went, "Wow."
- [00:01:49.197]Yeah, exactly.
- [00:01:50.477]So, yeah.
- [00:01:52.277]How do you think the College of Business
- [00:01:53.757]has changed me and prepared me for future success?
- [00:01:58.477]Well, I think your professors
- [00:02:01.917]certainly helped you there.
- [00:02:04.097]I mean, from your freshman year all the way through,
- [00:02:06.697]you always talked to me about what good relationships
- [00:02:09.357]you had with them, the open-door policy,
- [00:02:12.817]and I think that just really helped you.
- [00:02:17.197]So, when I'm gonna be walking across that stage
- [00:02:18.917]with my diploma in hand, what do you think
- [00:02:20.917]the value of that is moving forward?
- [00:02:23.977]Well, I think it's very important.
- [00:02:26.017]I mean, you're a graduate from a Big 10 University,
- [00:02:28.930]so I think that says a lot.
- [00:02:33.070]I'm extremely proud of you.
- [00:02:37.017]Your education here and your whole experience
- [00:02:40.403]at the university, and in particular CBA,
- [00:02:43.570]exceeded my expectations.
- [00:02:45.830]I just am so glad that you had four,
- [00:02:48.390]I think, really fabulous years here.
- [00:02:50.131]Me too.
- [00:02:51.950]Thank you for all the support
- [00:02:53.351]and helping me start something at CBA.
- [00:02:55.710]Well, the four years have certainly flown by,
- [00:02:59.010]and I'm really looking forward to your next step
- [00:03:02.251]in your career.
- [00:03:03.490](calming music)
