- [00:00:00.000]Say your name and your title.
- [00:00:01.768]My name is Tony Boccanfuso, I'm President of the UIDP.
- [00:00:05.618]Alright.
- [00:00:06.434]So during the contemporary issues panel
- [00:00:08.508]we were very fortunate to have the chancellor
- [00:00:10.318]of the university, as well as other representatives
- [00:00:13.841]from the university, talk about the development of
- [00:00:17.005]the innovation campus here at the University of Nebraska,
- [00:00:19.861]and talk about what was needed in terms of investments
- [00:00:22.829]to make that a success.
- [00:00:25.759]So we have over 150 university and corporate representatives
- [00:00:30.697]who've gathered to discuss contemporary issues
- [00:00:32.949]affecting university-industry collaborations.
- [00:00:35.106]As an organisation we focus on really trying
- [00:00:38.494]to find better ways to collaborate, and we do that
- [00:00:40.874]by identifying issues and addressing them
- [00:00:43.282]through group-think, crowdsourcing solutions,
- [00:00:46.501]and finding better ways to collaborate.
- [00:00:48.965]Sure, so we're a membership organisation apprised
- [00:00:51.346]of large companies and research universities
- [00:00:53.922]from, frankly, all over the world,
- [00:00:55.909]and the people who benefit are the people who,
- [00:00:58.402]during their day jobs find challenges
- [00:01:00.558]working at the university-industry interface.
- [00:01:02.602]So we have people with job titles like
- [00:01:04.534]university relations if they're from a company,
- [00:01:07.166]corporate relations if they're from a university,
- [00:01:09.461]tech scouts, IP managers, research contract administrators,
- [00:01:13.801]vice presidents of research, chief technologists,
- [00:01:17.161]really anybody who works and touches
- [00:01:19.514]at that university-industry pinch point.
- [00:01:21.529]Sure, so by being a UIDP member representative,
- [00:01:24.749]you're able to gain access to leading approaches
- [00:01:28.950]from experts from the different walks of life,
- [00:01:31.946]once again contracting, intellectual property management,
- [00:01:34.550]corporate university relations, we really have
- [00:01:37.070]a critical mass of knowledge that you're not gonna find
- [00:01:39.282]at any other organisation in the world.
- [00:01:41.932]We travel around the country to host our meetings
- [00:01:44.953]in various locales so we can see what's going on
- [00:01:47.053]on the ground, and we're really fortunate to be here
- [00:01:49.530]at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
- [00:01:51.462]They have truly an outstanding conference center,
- [00:01:53.841]that is very supportive of collaboration.
- [00:01:56.305]The set-up between the facilities
- [00:01:58.994]and the various breakout rooms
- [00:02:00.702]really leads to contact between
- [00:02:02.857]these university and corporate representatives,
- [00:02:05.125]and it's just a very attractive facility for engagement.
- [00:02:07.926]When you think about UIDP meetings,
- [00:02:10.585]you think about the presentations that you hear,
- [00:02:13.133]for learnings, you think about the project working sessions,
- [00:02:15.822]and then there's this really important intangible,
- [00:02:18.090]which is people get to see each other at our meetings
- [00:02:20.945]that they don't normally get to see when they're not here.
- [00:02:23.465]So what you have is people going off on the side,
- [00:02:25.873]sitting down on a couch, or going on a bench somewhere,
- [00:02:29.233]sitting, engaging each other,
- [00:02:31.361]sometimes they're from the same industry,
- [00:02:33.349]sometimes they're from different industries,
- [00:02:35.142]sometimes they're somebody from a university and a company,
- [00:02:37.493]and they may only see each other at UIDP events.
- [00:02:40.714]So it's a really attractive venue for people to get together
- [00:02:43.737]and cross-fertilize ideas and structures.
- [00:02:46.593]As an organisation we're really focused on
- [00:02:49.337]the discovery and innovation process
- [00:02:51.354]and how companies can work with universities
- [00:02:53.901]to accelerate innovation to lead to new products
- [00:02:56.814]so they can generate wealth for their companies,
- [00:02:59.110]improve the health of the citizens by coming up with
- [00:03:01.265]new drugs, new therapeutics, new medical devices,
- [00:03:04.710]new approaches to how we do business.
- [00:03:07.454]And so when you look at the facilities here
- [00:03:09.609]at the University of Nebraska,
- [00:03:11.205]specifically the food science facilities,
- [00:03:14.694]there's so many opportunities to improve yields
- [00:03:17.914]around the world, Nebraska is truly a leader in agriculture,
- [00:03:22.002]and we have a lot of agricultural companies at the UIDP
- [00:03:25.615]coming to the University of Nebraska.
- [00:03:27.211]We have a focus here looking at food safety,
- [00:03:29.591]food security, and other companies and other universities
- [00:03:32.363]can really learn from the University of Nebraska.
- [00:03:37.123]From Northrop Grumman, okay.
- [00:03:39.620]Very good, alright.
- [00:03:41.398]Well we as a company are doing so much work
- [00:03:44.550]within the university world
- [00:03:46.874]and we're finding that the activities with the universities
- [00:03:50.375]are changing constantly, we need to stay on top of things
- [00:03:53.203]and we need to collaborate with other organisations,
- [00:03:55.358]universities, and other industry partners.
- [00:03:57.879]And this is an opportunity for us to share,
- [00:04:00.510]to hear best practices,
- [00:04:02.667]to explore other opportunities to work with both parties
- [00:04:07.454]and UIDP really provides that venue
- [00:04:11.010]it provides the ability for us to gain that information
- [00:04:13.867]and it's the format for it that works
- [00:04:18.487]so well for Northrop Grumman.
- [00:04:20.559]Great, how's your experience been
- [00:04:22.378]at this particular meeting in Lincoln, Nebraska?
- [00:04:24.142]Well it's been great because I've been on,
- [00:04:26.187]not only was I able to give a presentation in one area
- [00:04:29.267]on what's called master research environments
- [00:04:31.534]but also I'm involved in a couple panels
- [00:04:34.334]and I like to share my experience on the panels
- [00:04:38.842]with other folks that are coming up in the chain
- [00:04:41.418]and learning more about their ability
- [00:04:44.107]to work with universities as well.
- [00:04:45.646]It's the ability to share my best practices
- [00:04:48.586]through that community.
- [00:04:51.977]Yes, I learned that one of the guys
- [00:04:55.655]that I'm gonna be on a panel with tomorrow actually,
- [00:04:59.162]was a former company employee of ours,
- [00:05:02.821]used to be a three-star general
- [00:05:05.592]and we're gonna work together
- [00:05:08.196]and I'm probably gonna grow the relationship a little bit
- [00:05:10.773]with him and what's he's doing now here at UNL.
- [00:05:14.161]So that was substantial and I never realized that
- [00:05:17.465]until I got here.
- [00:05:18.808]So this organisation is really about
- [00:05:21.356]making those networking connections--
- [00:05:23.289]It's about networking connections
- [00:05:25.277]and it's also the ability to share best practices
- [00:05:29.448]and I get that, it's a real plus for me
- [00:05:32.416]as a result of my membership in the UIDP.
- [00:05:35.166]Very good.
- [00:05:36.271]Kinda focus in on it so, alright--
- [00:05:38.850]So the University of Toronto is excited
- [00:05:40.943]to be a member of the UIDP.
- [00:05:42.792]We certainly have an interest in engaging with industry
- [00:05:46.813]and learning from other members
- [00:05:49.332]and it's been a really great experience.
- [00:05:51.012]I made a lotta great connections with my counterparts
- [00:05:53.672]across universities so what's helpful for me
- [00:05:56.150]is now having a network
- [00:05:58.027]so when we're having a challenge
- [00:05:59.874]or I need to bounce some ideas off somebody
- [00:06:01.750]or I need to pick up the phone and talk to someone
- [00:06:03.907]at another university, it's been fantastic
- [00:06:06.734]to help grow those collaborations.
- [00:06:08.975]What I really like about the UIDP is the size,
- [00:06:11.802]so you get a great collection of individuals who are here
- [00:06:16.087]but it's a small enough meeting that you can meet,
- [00:06:18.326]you can interact, you can one-on-one,
- [00:06:20.622]so you get a really great depth
- [00:06:22.582]and the content that they're doing is very relevant
- [00:06:25.047]to the day job that I have in my office.
- [00:06:27.314]Very relevant to the day-to-day issues that we're all
- [00:06:29.862]looking to get a little better at.
- [00:06:32.075]In this regard the quality of the learnings and the content,
- [00:06:35.826]and really your ability to participate
- [00:06:37.758]in the meeting has been great.
- [00:06:40.134](talking off mic)
- [00:06:42.123]I have been a member, wow,
- [00:06:45.789]I believe it's been two years now?
- [00:06:47.283]So what do you get out of the organisation?
- [00:06:49.020]Why do you continue to be a part of it?
- [00:06:50.476]So I was, umm...
- [00:06:53.052]Can we start over? (laughs loudly)
- [00:06:55.011]I hate talking on camera. (laughs)
- [00:06:59.252]The UIDP provides a unique opportunity
- [00:07:03.328]and it brings universities and industry together
- [00:07:05.903]into the same room to have discussions
- [00:07:08.731]about what works, what doesn't work,
- [00:07:10.943]that's really what I get out of it
- [00:07:12.540]in my role in a university
- [00:07:14.164]is learning, or getting to know the perspective
- [00:07:16.879]of the company when we're negotiating contract terms
- [00:07:21.415]and particularly with intellectual property as a hot topic
- [00:07:24.635]big issue, usually between universities and companies.
- [00:07:29.961]That's really one of the main focuses for me
- [00:07:32.980]in the role that I have in my university,
- [00:07:35.303]is learning what is the perspective of the company.
- [00:07:39.140]How can we make strides to work better together,
- [00:07:42.472]to make our relationship stronger and easier,
- [00:07:47.291]and collegial.
- [00:07:49.084]Yes, it provides the forum to bring the parties together.
- [00:07:52.763]I think it's unique, I haven't been,
- [00:07:54.891]Other organisations attempt to have maybe
- [00:07:57.160]a session or two that address the issue
- [00:07:59.120]but it goes further here in that it's the membership
- [00:08:01.751]that's what makes up the organisation.
- [00:08:05.807]Yes, I have made connections with companies
- [00:08:07.856]that we work with and that we partner with
- [00:08:09.788]at my current university, and it's nice to put a face
- [00:08:12.764]to a name, and I think that helps build
- [00:08:15.010]and continue to strengthen the relationship.
- [00:08:17.474]Also we're going to be discussing multi-party contracts
- [00:08:21.170]which is something that can be an issue
- [00:08:24.530]and so I'm hoping that out of that session,
- [00:08:26.518]that's tomorrow so we haven't had that yet,
- [00:08:28.226]but I'm very hopeful out of that session
- [00:08:30.046]that we'll be able to get some ideas for a new project
- [00:08:33.826]going surrounding multi-party contracts
- [00:08:36.122]to hopefully make them an easier negotiation process
- [00:08:39.146]for both university and the organisation, the company,
- [00:08:42.114]that we're working with.
- [00:08:43.198]Talk about coming home.
- [00:08:44.430]Oh. (laughs)
- [00:08:45.576]Yes, and it also provided a unique opportunity.
- [00:08:47.713]I graduated from the university here in '93,
- [00:08:50.887]I haven't been back since almost that time
- [00:08:54.214]and so it gave me a great chance to come back
- [00:08:56.174]to my alma mater, to take a look around the campus,
- [00:08:59.086]to see how everything has grown in the city,
- [00:09:01.606]and it's amazing how much it's changed in 20 years.
- [00:09:04.798]So you've been impressed with the venue--
- [00:09:07.290]I have been.
- [00:09:08.448]Even from a kid that used to--
- [00:09:10.332](laughs) I've been very impressed.
- [00:09:11.912]It actually exceeded my expectations. (laughs)
- [00:09:14.152]From someone who used to hang out on O Street.
- [00:09:16.112](laughs loudly)
- [00:09:21.896]Yeah, this week we're hosting
- [00:09:25.086]University-Industry Demonstration Partnership
- [00:09:28.194]and what a great organisation it has been
- [00:09:31.918]that it has brought industry and universities together
- [00:09:36.482]on the table, trying to discuss
- [00:09:41.018]how better to work with each other.
- [00:09:43.286]Before UIDP, there was a lotta tension
- [00:09:47.094]between university and industry,
- [00:09:49.474]how to work together, how to develop new contracts,
- [00:09:53.954]lots of challenges, they were not even talking to each other
- [00:09:58.630]but UIDP has played such an important role
- [00:10:02.326]in not only bringing these two parties together
- [00:10:06.862]but coming to a consensus
- [00:10:09.970]so that we can work better together.
- [00:10:11.972]It's made a huge difference for the nation.
- [00:10:15.696]Yeah, so number one that we're committed
- [00:10:18.692]to the same principles, 'cause we're trying to build
- [00:10:22.080]closer working relationship with the industry,
- [00:10:25.324]and then learn from our colleagues both in the industry
- [00:10:30.228]and universities from around the nation.
- [00:10:35.034]And we've benefited from that.
- [00:10:37.044]Especially with the Nebraska Innovation Campus coming
- [00:10:43.166]on board, this becomes even more important.
- [00:10:47.414]So, say your name.
- [00:10:48.841]Katie Morris-Fox.
- [00:10:50.689]And, you are?
- [00:10:52.425]Assistant Director, Indiana University for grant services.
- [00:10:55.533]Well I run the contracting group at Indiana University
- [00:10:58.782]so we manage all types of contracts with industry,
- [00:11:01.946]we do MTAs, we do CDAs,
- [00:11:03.766]and we do sponsored research agreements,
- [00:11:06.174]and the contract accords information that we get
- [00:11:10.542]out of UIDP and the workshops and the working groups
- [00:11:14.350]with the project have been invaluable to me and my staff.
- [00:11:17.683]We've learned a lot
- [00:11:18.768]and we've seen a lot of different perspectives
- [00:11:20.371]and it's been very informative and useful.
- [00:11:23.395]Before I joined UIDP I hadn't considered all
- [00:11:26.867]of the implications to background intellectual property
- [00:11:30.143]and sponsored research agreements,
- [00:11:32.243]and the types of questions that we need to ask our PIs,
- [00:11:35.155]and the types of information that it's gonna be
- [00:11:37.395]really beneficial to gather, and how to help assess
- [00:11:40.027]how to negotiate the contract.
- [00:11:42.715]In meeting a couple of people who are
- [00:11:45.005]much more seasoned negotiators than me
- [00:11:47.139]I've been able to improve my skills
- [00:11:49.384]and grow my team's skills and do a much better job
- [00:11:52.268]representing the university and our investigators.
- [00:11:55.006]It's been great, actually the TED-style talks
- [00:11:57.921]as Tony mentioned earlier today have been excellent.
- [00:12:02.625]There's a lot of information shared in short segments
- [00:12:06.265]and it's been useful and really interesting.
- [00:12:09.625]There's a lot of networking opportunities
- [00:12:11.614]so I've met probably 10 different people
- [00:12:13.601]that are gonna be really great contacts for my job.
- [00:12:18.553]Yeah, it's been great.
- [00:12:20.534]It's really fascinating to see what other universities
- [00:12:23.877]are doing in terms of industry engagement,
- [00:12:26.677]I would say that our university is very
- [00:12:29.284]decentralized and our approach to industry
- [00:12:33.539]and it's been very informative and I hope very useful
- [00:12:38.831]information to take back to IU to talk about ways
- [00:12:43.283]that we could centralize our approach to industry.
- [00:12:46.588]Negotiating software and copyright rights
- [00:12:49.499]are extremely difficult, most people don't understand them
- [00:12:52.775]and there's a lot of work to do in this sector
- [00:12:55.435]to bridge the gap between people's understanding
- [00:12:58.095]and what we do on a day-to-day basis.
- [00:13:01.463]And say your name and what you do.
- [00:13:03.275]Megan Brogan, Cisco Research.
- [00:13:06.689]I am part of Cisco Research, and I manage
- [00:13:10.198]our research grant program and so
- [00:13:12.017]UIDP is an opportunity for us to
- [00:13:14.706]meet with other university partners,
- [00:13:16.945]explore new partnership opportunities,
- [00:13:19.213]and also learn best practices from other industry members.
- [00:13:21.985]Kinda see how other organisations are structured,
- [00:13:25.065]and how we can learn from them and share ideas,
- [00:13:27.809]and really improve the business.
- [00:13:29.853]Yeah, one of our biggest relationships
- [00:13:32.094]has grown with Princeton University
- [00:13:35.285]and we've really expanded that network,
- [00:13:38.113]not only through research grants,
- [00:13:39.821]we've also done on-campus boot camps
- [00:13:42.957]for some training that we've done with the students,
- [00:13:45.674]hiring students, a variety of different engagements,
- [00:13:48.137]and I credit a lot of that to UIDP.
- [00:13:51.133]Yeah, I participated in the collaboration scorecard
- [00:13:55.025]the metrics breakout session which--
- [00:13:56.591]So what's the takeaway from that session?
- [00:13:58.563]Mainly that everyone else is having the same issues
- [00:14:01.493]that we are, and so it's a good chance
- [00:14:03.817]to bounce ideas off of each other and learn how
- [00:14:07.737]to deal with the challenges and understand
- [00:14:10.313]that the definition of success is different for universities
- [00:14:13.785]and different for other industry folks who participate,
- [00:14:17.117]and so it's good to get a better understanding
- [00:14:19.497]of all the different perspectives.
- [00:14:23.213]Go ahead and say your name and your title.
- [00:14:25.675]Andrew Maas.
- [00:14:26.995]And you are?
- [00:14:28.019]I dunno what the title says.
- [00:14:29.363]Director?
- [00:14:30.225]I'm the Director of the LSU
- [00:14:32.328]Innovation, Technology, and Commercialization office.
- [00:14:35.548]Louisiana State?
- [00:14:36.920]Yes.
- [00:14:37.728]Tell me about that.
- [00:14:38.900]So we are hosting at LSU,
- [00:14:42.060]spring of 2017,
- [00:14:45.418]it's gonna be April 24th to 27th in Baton Rouge,
- [00:14:49.253]so we're super excited about that.
- [00:14:50.849]Why is that exciting,
- [00:14:52.138]to have this group of folks come to your campus?
- [00:14:54.545]We're gonna be focusing on
- [00:14:56.656]energy, the chemical industry, and agriculture,
- [00:15:01.165]which are all three big industries in Louisiana.
- [00:15:05.903]And we're hoping to get a lotta good industrial linkages
- [00:15:10.701]coming through Louisiana.
- [00:15:14.014]One of the neat things about Louisiana
- [00:15:15.943]is a large portion of the country's energy dependency
- [00:15:19.040]flows through the state.
- [00:15:21.111]And a lot of the universities around the country
- [00:15:25.459]depend on the by-products that come through Louisiana.
- [00:15:28.638]We're hoping that we can help those other universities
- [00:15:31.157]build relationships with some of the companies
- [00:15:33.174]that have facilities in Louisiana.
- [00:15:35.556]I've been involved with UIDP for about four years
- [00:15:37.979]and I've seen the benefit of working meetings
- [00:15:42.180]when we get together and we interact
- [00:15:44.532]with industry, and universities, and the national labs,
- [00:15:47.920]and the federal government, and talk about
- [00:15:50.496]things that we need to improve upon
- [00:15:53.968]and collectively we come up with solutions.
- [00:15:56.320]It's not one group saying this is the best practice,
- [00:16:00.240]it's everybody collectively coming together saying,
- [00:16:02.536]"these are the things that we think are best practices
- [00:16:04.523]"for everybody at the table."
- [00:16:07.632]And it's not just one entity's perspectives.
- [00:16:11.733]Did you go to any
- [00:16:12.810]of the breakout sessions today?
- [00:16:14.204]I did, yeah.
- [00:16:15.003]Which one or two did you go to?
- [00:16:17.104]I went to...
- [00:16:19.529]Oh, now you're asking me hard questions.
- [00:16:22.881]I went to one on the national labs big data session,
- [00:16:27.002]and then I went to one on
- [00:16:28.318]the contracts accord about copyrights.
- [00:16:31.108]I think the one that I went to about the contracts accord
- [00:16:33.852]was pretty valuable because
- [00:16:35.841]these documents are living documents, right?
- [00:16:38.165]We've released the contract accord,
- [00:16:40.629]we've made some revisions to the contract accord,
- [00:16:43.093]and now we're going back, we're making another round
- [00:16:45.164]of revisions as we've realized that there's some things
- [00:16:47.685]that we need to drill down in more.
- [00:16:49.706]That's what's really neat about UIDP is the ability to
- [00:16:56.035]impact the environment that you work in
- [00:16:59.740]with these contracts and whatnot.
- [00:17:03.487]Okay, that's good.
- [00:17:04.813]Yeah, we're really excited and proud that
- [00:17:06.857]the University of Nebraska-Lincoln was able to host
- [00:17:09.069]UIDP22 General Meeting.
- [00:17:11.196]It's really a great opportunity to advance
- [00:17:13.240]the dialog between research universities
- [00:17:16.078]and research-intensive companies,
- [00:17:18.347]to advance partnerships and that kinda collaboration.
- [00:17:21.762]UNL has made a lot of investments
- [00:17:24.283]in terms of university-industry partnerships,
- [00:17:26.663]but more broadly private-public partnerships
- [00:17:29.295]as you've seen the growth around Lincoln
- [00:17:31.451]it's really been driven by cooperation
- [00:17:33.859]between the university and government and business leaders
- [00:17:38.367]to be able to make these things happen.
- [00:17:40.691]UIDP featured a variety of general sessions,
- [00:17:45.003]plenary sessions, as well as small group breakouts
- [00:17:47.775]that were focused on UIDP projects,
- [00:17:50.015]as well as sector-specific industry breakouts,
- [00:17:52.982]which is the first time,
- [00:17:54.019]that I'm aware of, UIDP hosting those.
- [00:17:56.131]We also explored the areas of
- [00:17:57.894]education to employment, the graduate level,
- [00:18:00.331]and social and behavioral science collaborations,
- [00:18:02.967]which is something that we're all
- [00:18:04.283]keenly interested in advancing.
- [00:18:06.075]The UIDP community was able to see
- [00:18:09.048]some of the investments that the university
- [00:18:11.120]has made at Nebraska Innovation Campus.
- [00:18:13.450]Folks were able to visit the Greenhouse Innovation Center,
- [00:18:16.509]specifically to see the
- [00:18:18.048]LemnaTec High-Throughput Phenotyping system.
- [00:18:20.624]We also visited Nebraska Innovation Studio,
- [00:18:22.982]our take on a makerspace.
- [00:18:26.198]We also toured some of the pilot facilities,
- [00:18:29.297]the Food Processing Center.
- [00:18:31.594]All of these facilities at Nebraska Innovation Campus
- [00:18:34.618]feature in one way or another engagement with industry.
- [00:18:38.482]They are also critical infrastructure
- [00:18:41.366]to be able to drive innovation.
- [00:18:43.438]At our Wednesday evening reception,
- [00:18:45.790]some of the UIDP community was able to visit
- [00:18:48.646]the Nebraska Athletic Performance Laboratory.
- [00:18:51.250]This is really a strong interest,
- [00:18:53.153]especially as we see a convergence around
- [00:18:55.897]some of the human health research enterprises
- [00:18:59.314]and institutions being concerned with human performance.
- [00:19:03.710]Whether that's related to rehabilitation,
- [00:19:06.342]issues related with returning war fighters,
- [00:19:09.170]or how student athletes and others
- [00:19:11.018]perform in the athletic arena.
- [00:19:13.879]UIDP really has a strong community of people
- [00:19:18.554]that interact not just at the general meetings,
- [00:19:21.523]but are also highly engaged with one another
- [00:19:24.351]on projects, including the careers and industry project,
- [00:19:27.739]contract accords, and others.
- [00:19:29.839]It's that sense of community
- [00:19:31.967]that really drives opportunities for members
- [00:19:34.319]to be able to collaborate and work together.
- [00:19:36.783]With such a full agenda,
- [00:19:38.855]breakout sessions and plenary sessions,
- [00:19:41.904]project work, it's really a nice chance for people
- [00:19:46.132]at the receptions to get together,
- [00:19:48.400]talk about what's going on in their sectors,
- [00:19:50.919]and just for really good friends to catch up
- [00:19:53.356]who look forward to UIDP to make new connections,
- [00:19:56.100]but as well as to connect with folks
- [00:19:58.368]on either side of the aisle.
- [00:20:02.126]We hope that everyone enjoyed their visits
- [00:20:04.142]at Lincoln, Nebraska.
- [00:20:05.793]We also hope that everyone benefited
- [00:20:07.558]and found the UIDP General Meeting
- [00:20:09.182]and co-location workshop to be productive.
- [00:20:12.125]UIDP is a chance when
- [00:20:15.132]early practitioners can learn
- [00:20:17.091]from more seasoned practitioners.
- [00:20:19.360]And because of the strong sense of community
- [00:20:21.235]and the project work, it's also a time
- [00:20:23.615]when more seasoned professionals can share.
- [00:20:26.108]And it's really a great exchange of ideas
- [00:20:28.347]across research universities
- [00:20:29.963]and research-intensive companies.
