[00:01:04.576]what we call the coding region of the gene
[00:01:06.712]that encodes the actual phytase protein
[00:01:10.032]and from the mouse,
[00:01:11.124]we were interested in a promoter,

[00:01:14.792]of a gene that they express
[00:01:16.185]in their saliva cells
[00:01:17.788]so combining that saliva promoter
[00:01:20.342]with the gene coding region
[00:01:23.105]that encodes phytase enzyme
[00:01:25.055]designed the proper transgene
[00:01:27.516]and now the genetic engineers
[00:01:29.234]are ready to do step two,
[00:01:31.324]which is to take that transgene
[00:01:32.833]and introduce it into living pig cells
[00:01:35.318]that have the capacity to develop
[00:01:37.384]into an entire pig
[00:01:39.219]and then continue on with the rest of the steps
[00:01:42.005]in the genetic engineering process.
[00:01:44.234]So we've completed step one.
