Digitizing Pueblo Archaeological Records
Description
The excavation records of an ancient pueblo civilization soon will be publicly available, thanks to University of Nebraska-Lincoln anthropologist Carrie Heitman and a multi-institutional effort. With a $300,000 National Endowment for the Humanities grant, researchers are digitizing about 1.5 million photographs, field notes and other records generated during 1970s and 1980s excavations of the 1,000-year-old Salmon Pueblo in northwestern New Mexico.
