- [00:00:01.130]Hi, my name is Spencer.
- [00:00:02.667]I am with UComm/ITS Internet and Interactive Media.
- [00:00:06.472]I'm part of the team over here that works on MediaHub.
- [00:00:09.367]We have added a new feature here
- [00:00:11.678]that we're pretty excited about.
- [00:00:12.778]That we want to share with you.
- [00:00:14.199]That is the ability to add captions
- [00:00:16.204]to your videos via cost object number.
- [00:00:19.829]The videos are captioned by an
- [00:00:21.449]actual human, which is really cool.
- [00:00:23.452]And they are captioned at a dollar a minute,
- [00:00:26.109]which is actually a steal by any other standard.
- [00:00:28.925]You really can't beat that.
- [00:00:31.585]So we've done our best to make it
- [00:00:32.768]really easy on you to order these.
- [00:00:36.122]I am already logged in here,
- [00:00:38.438]if you're familiar with MediaHub.
- [00:00:39.800]Hopefully you are.
- [00:00:42.397]You should already have your video.
- [00:00:43.665]Your video should be an MP4
- [00:00:45.788]because that's the only video format
- [00:00:47.526]that MediaHub will actually accept.
- [00:00:50.418]If you don't have an MP4, not a problem.
- [00:00:52.679]There's free software called "HandBrake,"
- [00:00:55.024]which does a really great job converting
- [00:00:58.020]videos to MP4 and compressing them.
- [00:01:01.442]In fact, if you already have an MP4,
- [00:01:03.632]it's usually a good idea to run it through
- [00:01:05.203]HandBrake anyway because you just get
- [00:01:07.378]that compression, which is really nice.
- [00:01:09.115]You get a smaller file size.
- [00:01:10.597]You don't really lose any quality.
- [00:01:13.615]I ran this video through HandBrake
- [00:01:15.896]here and saved about 40%, I wanna say.
- [00:01:18.968]So it does help.
- [00:01:21.326]But we're gonna start by saying, "Manage Media."
- [00:01:23.490]If you have any other questions
- [00:01:25.029]about HandBrake or you want to know
- [00:01:27.342]where to get it, we have some presets for it.
- [00:01:30.546]Right here, we have this "Preparing Your Media"
- [00:01:32.935]link, and we'll just look at that.
- [00:01:34.428]Right here, you can download those presets.
- [00:01:36.928]And this kind of just explains what MediaHub
- [00:01:38.612]will take and how you can get it there.
- [00:01:42.911]But I'll take us back, and I am gonna
- [00:01:45.276]upload our fun little video here,
- [00:01:47.253](vintage music plays from bacteria video)
- [00:01:48.640]called "Bacteria, Friend and Foe."
- [00:01:51.691](men in bacteria video converse)
- [00:01:55.122]"No I can't; I can't do it."
- [00:01:57.438]All right.
- [00:01:59.604]Drop that in there.
- [00:02:03.900]And we'll start titling it.
- [00:02:05.253]We'll upload it.
- [00:02:06.731]"Bacteria Friend and Foe."
- [00:02:08.800]"Unknown."
- [00:02:10.822]And "This is a test video."
- [00:02:14.617]All right.
- [00:02:15.439]I'm gonna add this to my own channel.
- [00:02:18.590]The next step is just to add captions.
- [00:02:23.758]So this is the new page we have added in.
- [00:02:28.685]If you are familiar with MediaHub,
- [00:02:30.054]and if you've used the Amara
- [00:02:31.409]captioning we integrated a long
- [00:02:33.318]time ago, that is still there.
- [00:02:35.707]You could still come and, for free,
- [00:02:37.808]click "Edit Captions on Amara,"
- [00:02:39.867]caption your video, and come back here.
- [00:02:41.648]And you say, "Pull Captions From Amara."
- [00:02:44.360]That still works; you can still do it for free.
- [00:02:46.767]Or you can pay a dollar a minute
- [00:02:48.441]and have somebody do it for you,
- [00:02:49.647]save yourself a ton of time.
- [00:02:51.374]I can tell you that a minute of video
- [00:02:53.753]takes way more than a minute to caption.
- [00:02:56.685]So this will save you a lot of time.
- [00:02:58.262]I'm just gonna go ahead and enter my cost object number.
- [00:03:01.013]One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10.
- [00:03:04.671]Which is not real.
- [00:03:07.309]And I'm gonna say, "Order Captions."
- [00:03:09.826]And ta-da!
- [00:03:11.010]It's been shipped off.
- [00:03:12.108]There is a human frantically typing on a keyboard.
- [00:03:16.328]They're being captioned.
- [00:03:17.790]Maybe they're not typing right now,
- [00:03:19.378]but it is usually completed within 24 hours,
- [00:03:21.746]which is a really great turnaround.
- [00:03:24.371]So that is it.
- [00:03:26.607](vintage music from bacteria video)
- [00:03:27.806]Go ahead and get out there and start captioning videos.
The screen size you are trying to search captions on is too small!
You can always jump over to MediaHub and check it out there.
