[00:00:26.496]That's the goal of the breeding program, is to try and find
[00:00:29.604]varieties that use inputs efficiently if you're an irrigated producer
[00:00:34.588]and will do well for the drylands or rain fed producers.
[00:00:39.422]A strong soybean breeding program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
[00:00:42.987]led to an agreement with Bayer Crop Science to improve yield
[00:00:46.555]and develop new soybeans traits for producers around the world.
[00:00:50.827]We had a lot of good yielding material that's attractive to companies like Bayer and others.
[00:00:57.827]NUtech Ventures plays an important role in connecting the university with industry.
[00:01:03.283]The ultimate goal is to put these things into practice and that's I think
[00:01:08.347]what they help facilitate.
[00:01:10.187]Improved yield and development of drought resistant crop saves producers money,
[00:01:14.644]protects natural resources and will feed a global population.
[00:01:19.611]By 2050 we're gonna have to feed 9.6 billion people.
[00:01:23.213]Though one important goal that we have is to try to increase the rate
[00:01:28.451]of genetic gain for yield.
[00:01:30.931]Graf says innovation, like a versatile soybean variety,
[00:01:33.971]motivates him to keep searching for solutions that benefit others.

[00:01:42.891]proven that it's really a top line and it's gonna be a game changer potentially,
