- [00:00:05.128]It's been a rough road for Brenda Lee and her
- [00:00:07.665]daughter Bre'anda, but they pushed through with help
- [00:00:10.673]from On the Way Home – a program that helps

- [00:00:26.577]When she returned home, Brenda made a promise
- [00:00:29.417]to her daughter.
- [00:00:30.441]She was 13. I wanted to raise her for the next five
- [00:00:33.249]years and that if she tried, I was going to do

- [00:00:50.833]Home.
- [00:00:51.881]He just became my rock. He taught me what I needed

- [00:01:02.825]I watched her grow as a parent, I watched her

- [00:01:33.854]to help families.
- [00:01:35.366]It's huge when you think about the impact that
- [00:01:37.750]every placement or replacement has on a child and on
- [00:01:40.614]their family, both the personal emotional mental
- [00:01:44.674]health cost of having to be removed from the home
- [00:01:47.122]and the educational cost as well as the financial cost
- [00:01:50.483]to our community.
- [00:01:51.907]Research suggests On the Way Home works.
- [00:01:54.963]Children who are part of the program are three times
- [00:01:57.570]more likely to stay at home and five times more likely
- [00:02:00.851]to stay in school than children who don't receive the
- [00:02:03.643]services.
- [00:02:04.906]We've learned the value of families, family functioning
- [00:02:09.999]and family skills.
