[00:00:09.219]I've always known I wanted to be a teacher.

[00:00:24.033]Currently I'm a senior athletic training student with the men's basketball team here at the university.
[00:00:29.698]Our main goal is to prevent injuries and to keep them healthy.
[00:00:33.046]I've grown up sewing in 4-H, things like that.
[00:00:35.638]And I was interested in doing science.
[00:00:37.630]So then when I saw that had the major it was kind of like, that marries two of my interests.
[00:00:42.449]Not only am I a fashion designer, but I'm an artist.
[00:00:45.114]So I combine those two elements so I can translate my art to my fashion and vise versa.
[00:00:51.439]The class I was taking was advanced events and each of us was assigned an event.
[00:00:57.906]And mine just happen to be the African Gala.
[00:01:00.822]The goal was to raise $25,000 for scholarships for students to study abroad.
[00:01:05.108]And we raised $29,000.
[00:01:06.887]It was a lot of work but it was totally worth it.
[00:01:09.270]When you look in experience first hand then you know exactly what you're getting yourself into.
[00:01:14.157]This past summer, I was given the opportunity to spend about six weeks with the Oakland Raiders.
[00:01:18.851]For my major you're required to have three internships.
[00:01:21.721]I'm an event coordinator for Top Shelf Beverage Service.
[00:01:24.549]People are really willing to help you grow and learn and put you in real situations
[00:01:31.387]where you use that knowledge you learned in classes.
[00:01:33.988]We went to China and we got to go to a manufacturer that made clothes for Old Navy and Banana Republic.
[00:01:41.047]I will be doing a study tour in New York this summer.
[00:01:44.490]We will be visiting museums and also manufacturers.
[00:01:48.387]My undergraduate research is on the economic impact of German, Swedish and Czech festivals in Nebraska.
[00:01:55.574]My mentor and I meet every week.
[00:01:59.438]She has taught me more in my whole entire life than I think anybody else.
[00:02:04.366]She's taught me so much about what I need to do.
[00:02:06.941]And she's honestly an inspiration.
[00:02:08.947]To me the most beneficial thing from the College of Education and Human Sciences has

[00:02:15.785]I look up to my professors.
[00:02:17.279]It's just a great community.
[00:02:18.978]We are truly a big family.
[00:02:21.365]In the learning community we all go to a seminar each week.
[00:02:26.071]So we learn study habits and we talk about problems that we might be having in classes
[00:02:30.323]and how to take care of them.
[00:02:31.654]And it's also just really great because we met each other so quickly with our welcome event
[00:02:37.157]at the very beginning of the year.
[00:02:38.282]There's so many different clubs on campus.
[00:02:40.032]You get involved in different organizations and they like really are there for you and support you.
[00:02:44.654]I like being in the Cornhusker Marching Band the best.

[00:02:50.284]We will march down into the stadium and play pre game for 90,000 people.

[00:02:59.788]Lincoln is a fun town.
[00:03:00.783]You can go to a football game.
[00:03:02.038]Go listen to music or open mic night downtown at a coffee shop or something.

[00:03:07.029]What I like about the campus is how close it is to everything.
[00:03:10.239]We go and do laser tag, bowling, go to the movies, go golfing.
[00:03:14.738]To me campus has really become home.
[00:03:16.986]The city of Lincoln has really become home.
[00:03:18.730]It's been awesome.
[00:03:19.767]I was really afraid to come that far away from my family and I just have felt so welcome here.

[00:03:26.284]The opportunities, it had the study abroad, it had the program I wanted.
[00:03:30.621]The legacy of Nebraska is huge and it goes around the world.
[00:03:35.573]Being a Husker, honestly it's a great feeling.
