- [00:00:11.588]This is a opportunity that
- [00:00:13.423]I.. No other college, that
- [00:00:15.824]I I know of has.
- [00:00:17.819]Which is working along side
- [00:00:19.375]Hollywood professionals, and
- [00:00:21.349]professionals in the field, and
- [00:00:22.917]giving students the opportunity to,
- [00:00:24.804]get the real time and real
- [00:00:28.804]life experience of
- [00:00:30.506]working on a film set, in that pace.
- [00:00:32.766]that is happening, in Hollywood
- [00:00:35.859]as well as the connections,
- [00:00:37.684]it was an invaluable experience,
- [00:00:40.040]that I would only get here.
- [00:00:41.480]Being involved in it from the
- [00:00:42.973]pre-production, getting the casting going
- [00:00:44.977]to then finally see it up there on the
- [00:00:47.377]screen It is really satisfying,
- [00:00:48.934]It's amazing,
- [00:00:50.961]It really is the, the story we were
- [00:00:52.891]trying to tell is up there.
- [00:00:54.267][music]
- [00:01:08.677]Working on Digs is really rewarding for me
- [00:01:10.669]I worked both on the production and the
- [00:01:14.221]post-production side, I was a grip
- [00:01:16.002]during production, and I worked as a
- [00:01:18.189]sound editor in the post-production.
- [00:01:20.499]During production it was great to be able
- [00:01:22.519]to learn industry standards for,
- [00:01:24.354]film lighting, and grip work
- [00:01:26.083]and how that all works, and that process
- [00:01:28.323]and during post-production, is was awesome
- [00:01:30.872]to really get nitty-gritty into the sound
- [00:01:33.292]edit and understand, how meticulous
- [00:01:35.628]and how, difficult it is to actually make
- [00:01:38.678]a sound mix.
- [00:01:39.698]I think that's the really unique thing
- [00:01:41.634]about the Johnny Carson School of,
- [00:01:43.317]Theatre and Film and, I know that I
- [00:01:45.110]particularly lucky that, that's something
- [00:01:47.069]I am able to do within the midwest,
- [00:01:48.832]within this region, where I was born.
- [00:01:50.678]Having that here is very invaluable.
- [00:01:52.576]When the crowd, gets a beat and
- [00:01:54.603]gets a joke, I remember reading the
- [00:01:56.831]screen play and being like,
- [00:01:58.378]how are we going to pull this off...
- [00:02:00.151]and then, just the excitement of when
- [00:02:02.423]the crowd get it. It's just like
- [00:02:04.055]"Yes we nailed that", we got that moment,
- [00:02:06.423]was just, that was something that,
- [00:02:08.300]I was excited I got to see.
- [00:02:09.817][sound from the movie] "excuse me, ladies,
- [00:02:12.143]uh, what happened?
- [00:02:15.000]Oh, go.
- [00:02:17.817]Where's my buddy? (repeated)
- [00:02:24.089]All Clear?
- [00:02:25.528]Clear, clear.."
- [00:02:26.848][crash]
- [00:02:28.315]working with Donald, was really great
- [00:02:30.384]He was someone who knew what he wanted
- [00:02:33.381]and, he would tell you what he wanted.
- [00:02:36.315]He was straight up, and to work with a
- [00:02:38.389]professional that just knew it, but if you
- [00:02:40.438]didn't know something, he would take the
- [00:02:42.368]time and pull you off to the side and
- [00:02:44.156]explain to you how something, worked
- [00:02:45.869]in the business, in the industry, so
- [00:02:47.593]he was really great to work with and,
- [00:02:49.595]I've really learned a lot from him,
- [00:02:51.300]as far as how to handle a set, and how
- [00:02:53.262]to work with such a large crew.
- [00:02:54.818]On such a project like that. It was,
- [00:02:56.632]a, good experience.
- [00:02:57.848]Seeing all the behind the scenes,
- [00:02:59.598]all the work put into this, that just was
- [00:03:02.336]a small idea in my head, came,
- [00:03:04.447]all I saw was, it on paper and seeing all
- [00:03:07.871]the work put into it was just mind-blowing
- [00:03:10.142]and, it was really cool seeing it up there
- [00:03:13.022]as a polished, finished, product.
- [00:03:15.555]The hard work really paid off.
- [00:03:18.038]It actually, uh transitioned in to work in
- [00:03:20.301]Omaha, after that and I think that was
- [00:03:22.538]the biggest thing for me, was
- [00:03:24.041]I not only got to learn how to script
- [00:03:25.815]supervise, which I do a lot on the student
- [00:03:28.084]films around here now, but it also lead to
- [00:03:30.570]further career advancements, in the area
- [00:03:33.193]and I got to do a lot of cool
- [00:03:35.785]opportunities and projects from that.
- [00:03:37.716]It's crazy, this job, it kickstarted my
- [00:03:41.180]career, cause I did this, I got
- [00:03:43.016]recommended to work on, a reality TV show
- [00:03:45.501]that came to Omaha, I work on that and
- [00:03:47.923]then I get a job from them later in the
- [00:03:50.493]year to work on a feature in L.A. as a
- [00:03:52.957]production assistant and then this job's
- [00:03:55.144]gotten me jobs in New York and I'm still
- [00:03:57.149]in college right now, and I'm getting
- [00:03:59.378]to go coast to coast working for different
- [00:04:01.437]films, and working with famous celebrities
- [00:04:04.220]around the area, and it's just,
- [00:04:05.878]I can't, I'm so lucky to be what I'm doing
- [00:04:08.533]If it wan't for a film like Digs,
- [00:04:10.109]and the Carson School, I wouldn't
- [00:04:12.143]have the experience that I've had.
- [00:04:13.781]So I'm really glad that I was here, and
- [00:04:16.042]was able to help out, make
- [00:04:17.620]something truly worth-while.
