[00:00:19.152]deprived of the stadium
[00:00:20.296]for so long, I'm just
[00:00:21.295]yearning to see it again.
[00:00:22.832]Band camp is different than
[00:00:25.583]it was in highschool
[00:00:26.746]high school, you usually
[00:00:28.286]practice three hours in the
[00:00:29.705]morning, three hours at night
[00:00:31.107]to avoid the heat of the day
[00:00:32.495]Well here we do a week and
[00:00:34.499]a half long, full day
[00:00:36.941]ten hours a day, practice
[00:00:38.574]that really gets you ready
[00:00:41.742]for the year
[00:00:42.701]it is morning practice
[00:00:44.632]usually outside,
[00:00:45.656]afternoons is usually sectionals
[00:00:48.106]just to keep you out of the heat
[00:00:49.941]of the day, but
[00:00:50.807]really it's all day
[00:00:51.906]you are learning music
[00:00:53.069]you're marching
[00:00:53.953]you are getting freezy pops
[00:00:55.585]at night with the rest of
[00:00:56.871]the band and then a fun
[00:00:58.322]drill down at the end of the night.
[00:01:00.019]I joined the
[00:01:01.193]Marching Band, because
[00:01:02.348]I have been a part of marching
[00:01:03.776]band since high school,
[00:01:05.150]and have always really enjoyed it.
[00:01:06.890]I really wanted to take that into
[00:01:08.590]the collegiate level.
[00:01:09.630]I love band camp
[00:01:10.581]It's really hot,
[00:01:11.477]but I don't really care
[00:01:12.851]that much, just because
[00:01:14.218]a lot of it is just kinda
[00:01:15.466]watching to see the new people
[00:01:17.258]get accustomed to what we do.
[00:01:19.210]and I love that, because
[00:01:20.468]those first experiences are
[00:01:23.266]just, irreplaceable in a way
[00:01:26.643]overall it's been fantastic,
[00:01:28.218]I don't really know what
[00:01:29.593]I'd be doing with myself
[00:01:30.872]right now if I wasn't in
[00:01:32.152]marching band.
[00:01:33.186]you always look back and think
[00:01:34.561]"why am I doing this"
[00:01:35.820]and then, you get to those
[00:01:37.473]performances and it's just like
[00:01:39.841]oh, now I remember.
[00:01:41.687]mini-concerts in front of Kimball
[00:01:43.684]that gets me pumped, because
[00:01:45.379]that's when I see the first group
[00:01:46.969]of Huskers waiting in
[00:01:48.160]anticipation for the game
[00:01:49.771]that's when I am like, Ok it's game day
[00:01:51.937]I see everyone, we're all ready to go.
[00:01:53.772]So, let's do it
[00:01:54.709]that's why I really love it.

[00:01:58.698]When a little kid high-fives me though
[00:02:00.790]it's really exciting, because you are
[00:02:02.732]just looking at them and they have
[00:02:04.358]that little glow in there eyes.

[00:02:09.067]you could be high-five-ing someone,
[00:02:10.986]one day.

[00:02:13.654]Playing your heart out, on your instrument

[00:02:18.729]you never really think that you are
[00:02:20.433]going to get as big a reaction as
[00:02:22.030]you do here.
[00:02:22.764]The highlight is probably,
[00:02:24.236]strut for pre-game
[00:02:25.355]because, that is a really unique thing
[00:02:28.758]that we do, and that's
[00:02:30.155]when the crowd initially
[00:02:31.477]gets up for and that's
[00:02:32.885]when they're excited for the
[00:02:34.464]football, it's not because the
[00:02:35.925]team ran out on the field yet
[00:02:37.530]it's because the marching band
[00:02:38.986]came out on the field.
[00:02:40.046]the drum-line cadence is cool
[00:02:41.766]everyones excited
[00:02:43.361]Just all working together in you
[00:02:45.634]know you are going to go out there
[00:02:47.256]and do something great.
[00:02:48.482]I'm waiting for that kinda moment
[00:02:50.157]to happen. when everyone
[00:02:51.577]is just going to go crazy
[00:02:52.793]so, that's why I love
[00:02:54.210]being a part of that.
[00:02:55.447]performing in Memorial Stadium for
[00:02:57.262]the first time was really, surreal
[00:02:58.934]Being a part of the band, that's like
[00:03:00.712]the only group in Memorial Stadium
[00:03:02.392]that gets to keep everyone going.
[00:03:04.009]This uproar, right when they see the
[00:03:05.897]coach, there is goosebumps
[00:03:07.827]every single time,
[00:03:08.990]it's the loudest you ever feel anything
[00:03:11.316]because, it's coming from all around
[00:03:13.150]I always remember my first pre-game
[00:03:14.815]because, it was that big.
[00:03:16.425]The band is a huge aspect of the
[00:03:19.028]game day experience, expecially
[00:03:20.563]at Nebraska.
[00:03:21.629]Every time there is goosebumps.
[00:03:23.251]I've never had a game without them.
[00:03:25.033]I think it's just that first time,
[00:03:27.485]It's like "woah, there are a lot
[00:03:29.714]of people here" and then,
[00:03:31.047]you see the people clapping
[00:03:32.894]at the same time, you see hands
[00:03:34.579]moving, just that synchronization
[00:03:36.509]just blows my mind.
[00:03:37.863]just great
[00:03:39.239]all of us put together,
[00:03:41.105]we have our own different roles
[00:03:42.738]but, in the end it comes together
[00:03:45.042]and we all, kinda symbolize Huskernation
[00:03:48.113]Being a part of that is,
[00:03:49.885]what I love doing, every pre-game
[00:03:53.885]do this for Nebraska,
[00:03:55.271]do this for the state,
[00:03:56.401]this is a very unselfish act,
[00:03:59.675]you are representing,
[00:04:01.563]the state, the football team
[00:04:03.985]the fans, and the University and
[00:04:06.171]this marching band,
[00:04:07.473]do it with the most pride
[00:04:09.194]that you can and that
[00:04:11.839]like I said, is a feeling I will
[00:04:13.361]cherish forever, and I will
[00:04:14.704]miss it forever, once it's over.
[00:04:16.166]it's a proud moment not just for us
[00:04:17.894]but for the fans.
