- [00:00:05.008]Hi, my name is Tony Win. I am from Lincoln, Nebraska, and I graduated in May 2012 from the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts with a degree in art.
- [00:00:14.642]Even though I was an art student, I was part of the Cornhusker Marching Band, went to theatre and film classes,
- [00:00:22.408]...so I was pretty involved in all three areas of the fine and performing arts college.
- [00:00:26.943]I think the Department of Art and Art History was really good to me. Some of the programs in the art college are some of the best in the country.
- [00:00:36.394]You know, our ceramics program, you know, is in the top ten. We have great studios. We have a great visual arts lab. Great graphic design lab with state of the art equipment.
- [00:00:48.424]So I think, it just, you know, the environment that I was put in set me up for success.
- [00:00:54.342]My last semester of college I was offered an internship with Sandhills Publishing here in Lincoln.
- [00:00:59.174]And upon graduation I was offered a full-time job working as a graphic artist, doing mainly web design.
- [00:01:06.245]You know, the Sheldon is a very valuable resource. It's kind of a hidden gem on campus, because not many people realize how many -
- [00:01:15.174]...you know, different, how many different artists are represented in there and how many different eras of, you know, art history.
- [00:01:22.120]Having taken art history classes, I was able to appreciate more about what the Sheldon had to offer because, you know, it's not just an art museum.
- [00:01:29.643]It's a history museum, because SO much goes into different works of art. And so much history and thought, that seeing those works of art in person...
- [00:01:39.974]...kinda makes all these classes and these lectures that I took that more meaningful, and not just another lesson. It was more of a supplement to my education.
- [00:01:53.224]I feel like I am totally prepared for this next step in my education. And... you know, they are one of the top advertising schools in the nation,
- [00:02:05.166]...and I am so grateful to UNL for, you know, preparing me to succeed. Go big red!
