Peter Sam moved to Nebraska with his parents to start a restaurant. That experience taught him skills as an entrepreneur. He's now studying at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's College of Business Administration and targeting a career as a cardiologist.

[00:00:04.043]degree into a medical career. When I was
[00:00:07.010]in high school, my parents moved from
[00:00:08.090]Los Angeles, California to Gothenburg, Nebraska
[00:00:11.064]to open a Chinese restaurant. I did about every job
[00:00:13.074]and I learned what it takes to be an entrepreneur.
[00:00:15.078]My career goal is to one day become an
[00:00:18.051]interventional cardiologist. My business degree in
[00:00:21.008]management will really help me one day when I
[00:00:22.095]decide to start my own medical practice. I feel
[00:00:25.042]like what I'm learning in the classrooms really
[00:00:27.069]applies to real life and running a business.
[00:00:29.059]I'm part of SIFE, Students in Free Enterprise,
[00:00:31.097]and we mobilize students to make a
[00:00:33.063]difference in our community. In one of our
[00:00:35.057]projects we're helping low-income and immigrant
[00:00:37.033]farmers develop their own business. The College of
[00:00:40.000]Business has been really great to me because
[00:00:41.097]the professors really know how to connect
[00:00:43.091]with me as a student. I chose the College of Business
[00:00:46.071]Administration because I wanted to be a part
[00:00:48.041]of something big. My experience here at the
[00:00:50.041]University of Nebraska has really set me up for my
[00:00:52.045]future career.
