[00:00:39.831]So I'm the director for the Bess Streeter Aldrich House.
[00:00:41.833]She's the author from Nebraska from about the time of Willa Cather,
[00:00:46.171]and we own her home and is open for tours.
[00:00:49.424]You know, these people are nice enough to come out and walk with us
[00:00:51.509]and tell us all the little things that they've
[00:00:53.803]they've had in the past 40 years and what they'd like to see. And,
[00:00:58.058]I feel like you always got to start with the people that live here.
[00:00:59.976]if you're going to, you know, submit a plan to change their own community.
[00:01:03.813]We know about the gas station that we just passed.
[00:01:06.149]That is the only gas station in town.
[00:01:08.818]And really the only place that you could get, like, milk, eggs.
[00:01:12.572]So for daily groceries, the gas station is enough?

[00:01:21.581]I would say yes. Since they work there, yeah.
[00:01:23.541]I think it's helping us get a sense of the voice
[00:01:26.377]that we need to be when we write these plans,
[00:01:28.296]because we should not be writing them from a voice of someone
[00:01:31.549]who lives in Lincoln, Nebraska.
[00:01:33.134]We need to write them as someone who lives in
[00:01:34.844]Elmwood and is going to reflect the values of the people who live here.
[00:01:38.973]That'll be a very good tool for some of us to have.
[00:01:50.110]I used to work in a grocery store growing up.
[00:01:51.820]So, like, as a high schooler, I think it's a really good job to have.

[00:02:01.121]Doing this type of project is going to help us all be better planners
[00:02:04.874]in the future, because we're actually on the ground working with people.
