- [00:00:06.172]My name is Savannah Siebrandt.
- [00:00:08.041]I am from Stanton, Nebraska.
- [00:00:10.310]I graduated from Stanton High School.
- [00:00:12.645]I am currently a junior at UNL and I transferred from
- [00:00:17.450]Northeast Community College.
- [00:00:18.284]I decided to pursue an education at the University of Nebraska because
- [00:00:22.889]I grew up loving agriculture.
- [00:00:24.958]My family was involved in agriculture.
- [00:00:27.060]I grew up showing cattle,
- [00:00:28.628]and then I was heavily involved in 4-H and FFA, especially in high school.
- [00:00:33.266]I loved being in the classroom.
- [00:00:35.068]I loved everything about it, and I loved my teacher.
- [00:00:38.338]She taught me so much and she helped me find my pathway.
- [00:00:42.008]And that's how I decided to become an agricultural education teacher.
- [00:00:45.545]My favorite class
- [00:00:46.679]so far in the Agricultural Education program at UNL
- [00:00:49.215]And now I think was definitely ALEC 308.
- [00:00:51.818]That's a lab instruction and management class with Eric Knoll and that class
- [00:00:55.755]taught us how to teach in the shop, which was super beneficial.
- [00:00:58.591]I really liked it definitely got me out of the out of my box,
- [00:01:01.561]which I needed, and it got me to meet some more of the Agricultural Education students.
- [00:01:05.899]Since that was one of my first classes, I took at UNL. In a lot of classes,
- [00:01:10.470]you will actually go teach students and you'll teach your classmates,
- [00:01:14.474]which is super beneficial to learn,
- [00:01:17.677]like how to teach and get comfortable in front of the classroom.
- [00:01:20.713]We're learning how to lesson plan.
- [00:01:22.282]We're learning different types of lessons, different types of discussion methods.
- [00:01:26.419]Overall, it's just going to help
- [00:01:27.554]us become great teachers and I'm so thankful for it.
- [00:01:31.391]I came in not knowing anyone.
- [00:01:33.126]I was like a lost puppy and it was super hard.
- [00:01:37.430]But my teachers tried to get to know me very well.
- [00:01:40.166]And honestly, after the first two weeks I felt like I could talk to my teachers.
- [00:01:44.637]They helped you with anything, even though I was technically like a new girl.
- [00:01:47.574]And even the students too, They're super supportive.
- [00:01:49.843]They definitely helped me out a ton.
- [00:01:51.544]So I think the support is super good
- [00:01:53.379]and it's super helpful, especially when you are a transfer student.
- [00:01:55.782]So definitely email Matt Kreifels, tell him what your plan is, what you're hoping to do,
- [00:02:00.220]and he will definitely help you as well.
- [00:02:02.489]He was super good with my process and my transfer, so you will be in great hands.
