- [00:00:00.000]In this video I'll walk through
- [00:00:03.840]the calculators found in the
- [00:00:05.490]direct cost
- [00:00:06.000]sheet. These calculators serve
- [00:00:07.890]to calculate detailed costs in
- [00:00:09.590]regard to
- [00:00:10.160]travel, supplies, consultants,
- [00:00:12.190]and other costs. With all of
- [00:00:14.150]these calculators a
- [00:00:15.720]new sheet will be made
- [00:00:16.930]available. The selected line
- [00:00:18.750]will refer to the totals
- [00:00:20.160]in the calculator sheets and
- [00:00:21.740]the cells within the direct
- [00:00:23.250]cost sheet will be
- [00:00:24.200]locked. The first option is the
- [00:00:26.680]travel calculator which can be
- [00:00:28.400]activated by
- [00:00:29.100]checking the box labeled yes
- [00:00:30.780]use travel calculator in the
- [00:00:32.460]direct cost sheet. When
- [00:00:34.420]selected a new sheet will
- [00:00:35.900]appear where you are able to
- [00:00:37.520]input detailed
- [00:00:38.520]information in regard to each
- [00:00:40.080]trip that is involved in the
- [00:00:41.510]budget. Separate
- [00:00:43.140]tables for domestic and foreign
- [00:00:44.760]travel are provided. The amount
- [00:00:46.500]of people, days,
- [00:00:47.400]nights, and numerous other
- [00:00:49.480]costs can be inputted into
- [00:00:51.380]these tables. These costs
- [00:00:54.100]will then be calculated and the
- [00:00:55.530]totals will be projected onto
- [00:00:56.900]the direct cost
- [00:00:57.700]sheet.
- [00:00:58.200]The first line in red is a good
- [00:01:00.010]example of how to complete each
- [00:01:01.740]trip. An option
- [00:01:03.160]for an annual increase is also
- [00:01:06.080]available.
- [00:01:13.160]An option for a supply
- [00:01:17.010]calculator is able to be
- [00:01:20.080]checked which will open a
- [00:01:21.460]separate calculator sheet.
- [00:01:23.100]There is a table provided where
- [00:01:25.480]you can enter an individual's
- [00:01:27.300]supplies along with the price
- [00:01:29.610]per unit and quantity of each
- [00:01:31.410]individual item.
- [00:01:32.420]These calculations are broken
- [00:01:34.420]down by year. An annual
- [00:01:36.270]increase can be applied
- [00:01:37.980]to each year as well. This
- [00:01:39.860]level of detail is not often
- [00:01:41.820]necessary but for
- [00:01:43.480]some defense or energy projects
- [00:01:45.700]it may be required. It can also
- [00:01:48.080]be a good tool
- [00:01:48.980]when collaborating with
- [00:01:50.250]different groups to keep track
- [00:01:51.950]of which group is
- [00:01:52.960]requesting how much in supplies.
- [00:01:56.400]For example, Dr. Johnson's lab
- [00:01:59.860]needs $5,000 in supplies in
- [00:02:02.720]each year and Dr.
- [00:02:05.240]Jones' lab needs $2,000 in
- [00:02:07.530]supplies in year one and $1,000
- [00:02:10.220]in year two.
- [00:02:11.920]The third option is for a
- [00:02:13.590]consultant calculator which
- [00:02:15.690]will appear on a separate sheet.
- [00:02:17.520]Names
- [00:02:18.120]for each individual consultant
- [00:02:19.920]can be listed on the
- [00:02:20.980]calculation table. A base rate
- [00:02:23.620]in hours
- [00:02:24.340]or days can be entered in the
- [00:02:25.500]calculation table.
- [00:02:25.500]can be entered to be factored
- [00:02:27.180]into the total consultant cost
- [00:02:29.100]broken down by year. Again,
- [00:02:31.900]the red text in the first row
- [00:02:33.340]is a good example. The last
- [00:02:35.280]option is for the calculator
- [00:02:38.070]involving
- [00:02:39.180]all other costs, which will
- [00:02:40.950]appear on a separate sheet. Miscellaneous
- [00:02:43.720]costs can be entered into
- [00:02:45.260]tables that are broken down by
- [00:02:47.380]group and year. The base cost
- [00:02:49.580]and quantity can be entered in
- [00:02:52.380]for
- [00:02:52.780]each individual cost. Similar
- [00:02:55.090]to the supply calculator, this
- [00:02:57.290]level of detail is not often
- [00:02:58.860]needed, but it can be a good
- [00:03:00.930]tool when needing more than six
- [00:03:03.270]other lines or keeping requests
- [00:03:05.980]from various groups separate.
- [00:03:08.530]These costs will be calculated
- [00:03:10.940]and factored into the totals
- [00:03:12.780]for the direct cost sheet. I
- [00:03:14.670]hope this was helpful for you.
