[00:00:05.125]the vision of Abbott and the Big Ten Conference
[00:00:09.208]for a nationwide effort
[00:00:11.791]to alleviate current nationwide blood shortages
[00:00:16.166]and educate people about the need for blood,
[00:00:20.000]while also inspiring
[00:00:22.375]blood donations across the country.
[00:00:25.416]When we created the We Give Blood Drive,
[00:00:28.500]I thought I had some predictions.
[00:00:30.083]Maybe some of the bigger schools,
[00:00:31.541]like Ohio State or Penn State would win.
[00:00:34.375]But right out of the gate,
[00:00:35.833]you took the lead, and you never looked back.
[00:00:39.083]Our students and our staff here at UNL,
[00:00:41.750]they really rolled up their sleeves quite literally and figuratively.
[00:00:45.541]Nearly 20,000 Big Ten students,
[00:00:48.666]alumni and fans
[00:00:50.583]across the country
[00:00:52.250]donated blood as part of this competition,
[00:00:56.375]And I think it underlines the spirit of giving
[00:00:59.166]that is at the core of
[00:01:01.666]Husker Nation, but also just the state of Nebraska.
[00:01:05.458]I would like to thank all of the students who contributed to this blood drive.
[00:01:10.291]And, you know, we really showed up and I'm really proud to be a Husker,
[00:01:14.166]not just today, but every day.
[00:01:22.458]We're starting earlier this coming year and engaging with all the universities.
