- [00:00:00.200]Okay, hi CDE contestants. I'm
- [00:00:03.730]going to give you a brief
- [00:00:04.640]introduction to the two
- [00:00:06.680]MIG welders that we'll be using
- [00:00:08.420]for the state contest. This is
- [00:00:11.010]the ESAB Warrior.
- [00:00:13.680]It has a Tweco gun on it. The
- [00:00:17.280]nozzle will adjust. We will
- [00:00:20.780]have some of these set
- [00:00:23.240]for you, but if they get it misadjusted
- [00:00:25.240]by the student before you, you
- [00:00:27.120]may have
- [00:00:27.420]to readjust your nozzle. On the
- [00:00:29.410]gun, there's the trigger to
- [00:00:31.110]start your arc.
- [00:00:32.960]The gas will be set, but if it
- [00:00:35.020]is not, always check this valve.
- [00:00:37.660]Make sure the
- [00:00:38.340]valve flows with the pipe. That
- [00:00:40.670]means it's on. We adjust it
- [00:00:43.250]here, and then
- [00:00:44.820]there's a button right here to
- [00:00:45.990]check your flow. The machine
- [00:00:47.730]has to be on, so we
- [00:00:49.320]turn it on there. Push this
- [00:00:52.370]trigger for this button here.
- [00:00:57.420]And adjust your shielding gas
- [00:01:00.670]to about 20, 20 cubic feet per
- [00:01:04.540]hour. This will be
- [00:01:06.180]adjusted each time, but double
- [00:01:08.390]check it just in case one of
- [00:01:10.180]the students before
- [00:01:11.640]you does something to un-adjust
- [00:01:13.800]it, if that's a word. Okay, on
- [00:01:17.000]the machine itself, there's
- [00:01:19.680]basically two
- [00:01:20.380]dials that you need to deal
- [00:01:20.970]with. This is voltage. The
- [00:01:21.670]voltage is going to be anywhere
- [00:01:22.370]from probably 60 to 70 volts.
- [00:01:23.420]This is voltage. The voltage is
- [00:01:24.540]going to be anywhere from
- [00:01:25.420]probably 60 to 70 volts.
- [00:01:25.420]This is voltage. The voltage is
- [00:01:25.420]going to be anywhere from
- [00:01:25.420]probably 70 to 70 volts.
- [00:01:25.420]This is voltage. The voltage is
- [00:01:25.420]going to be anywhere from
- [00:01:25.420]probably 70 to 70 volts.
- [00:01:25.420]This is voltage. The voltage is
- [00:01:25.420]going to be anywhere from
- [00:01:25.420]probably 70 to 70 volts.
- [00:01:25.420]This is voltage. The voltage is
- [00:01:25.420]going to be anywhere from
- [00:01:25.420]probably 70 to 70 volts.
- [00:01:25.420]This is voltage. The voltage is
- [00:01:25.420]going to be anywhere from
- [00:01:25.420]probably 70 to 70 volts.
- [00:01:25.420]probably 17, just under 17 to
- [00:01:30.340]18. Okay, this is the amperage.
- [00:01:34.470]You won't see anything there
- [00:01:36.300]until
- [00:01:36.500]you run the bead and you won't
- [00:01:38.580]be able to see that. It will be
- [00:01:40.830]somewhere between four and six
- [00:01:43.320]is a good range to start. You
- [00:01:44.990]may have to adjust it from
- [00:01:46.390]there. We'll give you a piece
- [00:01:48.130]of scrap
- [00:01:48.700]material to adjust your machine.
- [00:01:51.160]The other thing to check down
- [00:01:53.120]here, this is the process. This
- [00:01:55.720]is
- [00:01:55.940]MIG. You want to make sure this
- [00:01:58.490]dial is on MIG. It's green and
- [00:02:00.940]this is the inductance control.
- [00:02:03.760]We'll probably leave that at
- [00:02:05.070]zero. If you want a little more
- [00:02:06.540]inductance, you can turn it.
- [00:02:08.100]Otherwise,
- [00:02:08.420]leave that one alone. It'll be
- [00:02:10.420]good at zero. Okay, inductance
- [00:02:12.560]wets out the pottle of the bead.
- [00:02:14.720]Okay,
- [00:02:16.080]as you can see,
- [00:02:18.700]as far as that goes inside here,
- [00:02:22.480]without the rollers should be
- [00:02:27.980]set. The tension on your
- [00:02:30.960]rollers should also be set, so
- [00:02:33.280]there should
- [00:02:33.580]be no problem. If there is a
- [00:02:35.000]problem in a bird nest, get one
- [00:02:37.000]of the helpers that we have. We'll
- [00:02:39.600]help you get that fixed. Also,
- [00:02:41.110]if you burn a tip, we'll help
- [00:02:42.410]you replace that tip. Okay,
- [00:02:44.800]these knobs
- [00:02:46.100]should all be in this direction.
- [00:02:47.500]What this is,
- [00:02:48.700]this knob does, if it's in this
- [00:02:50.700]direction, you pull the trigger,
- [00:02:51.820]the wire keeps coming out.
- [00:02:52.960]If it's in this direction, you
- [00:02:55.720]can pull the trigger and it
- [00:02:56.610]stops itself. Okay,
- [00:02:58.760]that's for production welding.
- [00:03:00.210]Pull the trigger and it'll go
- [00:03:01.410]forever. So don't,
- [00:03:02.480]let's just leave those alone.
- [00:03:04.030]Leave that set that way. Okay,
- [00:03:06.640]that's the ESAB Warrior.
- [00:03:09.160]When you're done, just hang
- [00:03:12.280]your gun back up and tell the
- [00:03:15.360]helper and they'll have you
- [00:03:17.020]wait until
- [00:03:17.480]everybody else is done.
- [00:03:18.700]and we'll be ready for the next
- [00:03:21.520]group, okay?
