- [00:00:00.000]Hello, Adam here from SCC. I
- [00:00:03.090]want to give you a little
- [00:00:03.760]tutorial on what to expect
- [00:00:05.400]for the TIG competition. As you
- [00:00:07.520]enter the booth, you're going
- [00:00:09.120]to have a variety of
- [00:00:09.960]materials on the table. We're
- [00:00:11.960]going to have enough coupons to
- [00:00:13.960]create your
- [00:00:14.400]weldment. We're also going to
- [00:00:16.020]have one spare piece. This is a
- [00:00:17.640]piece of scrap you
- [00:00:18.540]can use to experiment on. We're
- [00:00:20.240]also going to supply you with a
- [00:00:21.780]couple pieces
- [00:00:22.440]of sixteenth inch diameter
- [00:00:24.750]filler. We look at our torch
- [00:00:27.250]here. That's going to
- [00:00:29.340]be assembled for you, complete
- [00:00:31.670]with a tungsten in it. It's
- [00:00:34.200]assembled with
- [00:00:34.800]gasoline-style parts. It's a 3/32
- [00:00:38.230]diameter tungsten electrode. It's
- [00:00:40.680]ground
- [00:00:40.980]to a taper. You're also going
- [00:00:42.920]to be supplied one backup tungsten
- [00:00:45.300]that's also
- [00:00:46.180]ground to a taper. So if you
- [00:00:47.920]make a mistake, you've got a
- [00:00:49.440]redemption round
- [00:00:50.200]there.
- [00:00:52.200]Moving on to the machine itself
- [00:00:53.890]here, you're going to have an
- [00:00:57.800]inverter-based DC
- [00:00:59.940]power source. This thing is set
- [00:01:02.170]up for DC electrode negative
- [00:01:03.670]operation right now.
- [00:01:04.740]It's set up for what we call
- [00:01:06.620]standard remote operation,
- [00:01:08.820]meaning clicking that
- [00:01:11.460]pedal will start your gas flow,
- [00:01:13.080]your welding current, and your
- [00:01:15.080]high-frequency
- [00:01:15.540]start. If you look at your peak
- [00:01:20.060]amperage on the panel there,
- [00:01:21.960]and we floor this, that's when
- [00:01:24.380]you're going to get your peak
- [00:01:25.360]amperage. Anything
- [00:01:26.460]less than four will be some
- [00:01:28.160]percentage of that. I'm going
- [00:01:30.190]to have advanced
- [00:01:31.080]features like the pre-flow and
- [00:01:33.350]post-flow set for you already.
- [00:01:36.600]So the only thing I
- [00:01:38.040]recommend that you adjust is
- [00:01:39.960]the peak amperage, if you see
- [00:01:41.960]fit, and if you'd
- [00:01:45.360]like, the gas flow rate, which
- [00:01:47.250]will be on a flow meter mounted
- [00:01:49.000]on the wall here.
- [00:01:49.980]Both should be set to a
- [00:01:51.720]roughly appropriate starting
- [00:01:53.070]point, so if you don't want to
- [00:01:54.210]fuss with that,
- [00:01:54.720]you don't have to.
- [00:01:55.720]Hello. This is another
- [00:01:59.660]variation of essentially the
- [00:02:02.520]same power source. I
- [00:02:04.200]don't want folks to be
- [00:02:05.180]intimidated by the different
- [00:02:06.560]look of this panel and its
- [00:02:07.720]controls. Just like before, I'm
- [00:02:10.590]going to have the advanced
- [00:02:12.290]features set up for
- [00:02:13.440]you, things like post-flow and
- [00:02:15.410]all that.
- [00:02:16.200]So the only thing I recommend
- [00:02:18.220]that you adjust is this main amperage
- [00:02:20.840]control here.
- [00:02:21.480]If you so choose, otherwise it'll
- [00:02:24.330]be set at 125 amp baseline for
- [00:02:27.000]you. It'll be set
- [00:02:28.080]up with the same standard
- [00:02:29.400]remote operation as before.
