- [00:00:00.000]Hey Extension, it's Lisa Caslon and I want to welcome you to our first Roadside Reflection.
- [00:00:09.920]I chose to do the first Roadside Reflection to let you know that weekly we will be providing
- [00:00:15.440]a video with a quick moment to pause and think about how we can continue to lead and connect
- [00:00:22.080]when the road feels bumpy.
- [00:00:24.480]In times of uncertainty, whether it's budget shifts, changing leadership, or community
- [00:00:29.780]disruption, stakeholders actually look to their community leaders for stability.
- [00:00:35.900]And while we may not have all the answers, what we do have is the ability to show up
- [00:00:41.000]with presence, purpose, and people-first leadership.
- [00:00:45.660]I would remind you, though, not all our stakeholders are aware or understand the pressures we
- [00:00:50.960]currently face.
- [00:00:52.700]In those cases, don't make our worries too big.
- [00:00:54.440]So, let's get started.
- [00:00:54.440]But when you do have stakeholders that are aware, you can help them stay engaged.
- [00:01:00.260]And while doing that, it helps you stay engaged.
- [00:01:03.540]Let's explore some strategies you can use in the upcoming months.
- [00:01:08.380]First of all, lead with transparency, not certainty.
- [00:01:12.760]Honest, timely communication builds trust, even when you don't have all the answers.
- [00:01:19.380]People don't expect perfection.
- [00:01:22.120]They expect people who show up.
- [00:01:24.380]Honesty.
- [00:01:25.060]Small gestures make big impacts.
- [00:01:29.740]Stakeholders don't always need a big gesture.
- [00:01:33.120]They just need to feel remembered.
- [00:01:35.420]So a small note or a short conversation can actually go a long way in uncertain times.
- [00:01:41.860]Show your stakeholders that their voices matter.
- [00:01:46.000]People invest more when they know their feedback makes a difference.
- [00:01:50.300]When people feel heard, they stay connected.
- [00:01:54.060]even through change.
- [00:01:55.680]Anchor in the mission. Mission clarity is like a compass when the path ahead feels foggy.
- [00:02:03.000]It's important to remember that our mission doesn't change, even when everything else around
- [00:02:09.540]us feels like it is. Be visible and valuable, which also means be present. Presence builds trust,
- [00:02:19.780]especially in uncertain seasons. Being visible even briefly reminds people that you're invested.
- [00:02:26.320]You can continue to clarify what's still in motion. In times of change, people need to know
- [00:02:34.040]what's stable. Focus your attention on what's still moving forward and let your stakeholders
- [00:02:40.500]know about that. Empower, don't just inform. When people help shape solutions,
- [00:02:49.020]they can help shape the future.
- [00:02:49.760]They become champions. It's important to remember engagement grows when people feel like co-creators,
- [00:02:56.440]not just recipients. How can you bring your stakeholders into being more of co-creators
- [00:03:02.980]during this time? As you finish your week and head into the next week, remember you don't
- [00:03:09.080]have to control the chaos that you might feel that is around you to make a difference.
- [00:03:13.260]You just have to stay connected, stay grounded, and keep showing up.
- [00:03:19.740]Because how we engage during uncertainty is how we build trust for the long haul.
- [00:03:25.720]I hope you're able to take some tips from the video and the attachment in the email.
- [00:03:32.740]Watch for these videos each week coming from me and several others within our organization
- [00:03:39.000]and outside our organization to help us continue to go down the road moving forward.
- [00:03:49.720]Thank you.
