- [00:09:27.110]who want to seek advanced education and work in education teaching or in research.
- [00:09:43.110]Now we'll take a moment to review the requirements for the degree.
- [00:09:54.110]This is a summary of the credit hours required
- [00:09:57.110]for the degree.
- [00:09:59.110]More specific information is noted in the undergraduate catalog.
- [00:10:04.110]A total of 120 credit hours,
- [00:10:08.110]including 30 hours of achievement-centered education,
- [00:10:12.110]ACE courses, are required.
- [00:10:16.110]ACE 1 is a writing requirement,
- [00:10:19.110]and so the completion of a 100-level English Composition course
- [00:10:24.110]completes that requirement.
- [00:10:27.110]We require two additional writing courses
- [00:10:30.110]for a total of nine credit hours:

- [00:10:59.110]...
- [00:11:03.110]Forty hours are required in the Criminology and Criminal Justice major
- [00:11:09.110]with some specific courses required and other courses of choice.
- [00:11:15.110]Students choose a minor,
- [00:11:18.110]and electives round out the 120 credit hours.
- [00:11:27.110]There are many minor areas to consider,
- [00:11:30.110]and it's helpful to explore areas of interest early
- [00:11:33.110]to determine what minor you feel might be of most interest and benefit.
- [00:11:38.110]Requirements for this degree are flexible,
- [00:11:41.110]and so some students choose to include more than one minor.
- [00:11:51.110]A typical first semester schedule would be about 15 credit hours,
- [00:11:57.110]including English composition, introduction to criminal justice,
- [00:12:02.110]perhaps a social science course, or choosing from various ACE courses.
- [00:12:09.110]Credits can be adjusted based on any AP or prior college credit,
- [00:12:15.110]or requirements for other programs such as learning communities,
- [00:12:20.110]ROTC, or a scholarship requirement.
