- [00:00:00.330]Coming up on "AI in the Classroom,"
- [00:00:01.890]we are going to create AI animated videos on Veed.
- [00:00:06.849](lively music)
- [00:00:11.640]Hi, I'm Guy Trainin,
- [00:00:12.990]a professor here at UNL.
- [00:00:15.270]And I'm Williams, also a grad student at UNL.
- [00:00:18.180]And today we're going to talk a little bit
- [00:00:20.640]about creating animation.
- [00:00:22.740]In this case, in a platform called Veed.
- [00:00:25.290]Although AI has multiple platforms for video.
- [00:00:28.050]And we're still exploring a lot of them.
- [00:00:29.850]Yeah. Thinking about
- [00:00:31.260]what might work for teachers.
- [00:00:33.000]So what can you show us?
- [00:00:34.770]Yes. So Veed has a plug-in ChatGPT,
- [00:00:39.600]Mm-hmm. But you can also
- [00:00:40.530]go to Veed directly by typing in the address veed.ai,
- [00:00:45.240]and you can sign in to the account.
- [00:00:48.840]Yeah. And so
- [00:00:49.830]when you are on Veed,
- [00:00:51.180]you have the options to create a new project.
- [00:00:54.450]You click on that.
- [00:00:56.070]Okay, let's click on that and get there.
- [00:00:58.710]Yeah.
- [00:01:00.180]And you have the option to upload files?
- [00:01:02.400]Yes. You can upload files,
- [00:01:03.960]but this time we are not uploading any file.
- [00:01:05.880]We are going to start with AI.
- [00:01:08.640]Okay. And so you click on AI,
- [00:01:11.280]and you give it the idea what you want it to do for you.
- [00:01:15.000]And so this time around,
- [00:01:16.170]we are going to keep it simple, and also very precise.
- [00:01:20.340]And we are going to create a video
- [00:01:26.820]that teaches forces in motion for grade four.
- [00:01:35.790]Okay. And we should
- [00:01:36.750]tell it to use real, use real classroom,
- [00:01:42.840]Mm-hmm. And a real teacher as well.
- [00:01:45.780]Real teacher. Otherwise it will just bring up any-
- [00:01:50.820]Cartoon? Cartoon, that you know,
- [00:01:52.200]I actually kind of like the cartoon.
- [00:01:54.380]So can we make a cartoon teacher
- [00:01:58.170]instead of a real teacher, cartoon teacher?
- [00:02:00.660]Okay.
- [00:02:02.220]I kind of like that combination.
- [00:02:03.660]Let's see what it does.
- [00:02:04.890]I know it's a challenge. That same teacher.
- [00:02:06.060]But let's see what happens.
- [00:02:07.680]Yes. So, and you specified the-
- [00:02:11.610]Okay. You also specify
- [00:02:13.080]the time limit.
- [00:02:15.330]So let's say 60 seconds.
- [00:02:18.030]Okay. Yes. And right now,
- [00:02:21.090]most of these platforms will limit
- [00:02:24.300]your ability to create a video,
- [00:02:26.970]because that is very energy consuming.
- [00:02:30.840]And so you do have to start with small chunks.
- [00:02:34.500]Also, you don't want them
- [00:02:36.000]to process through a very long movie,
- [00:02:37.680]and then discover that it wasn't anywhere
- [00:02:40.050]in the direction of what you needed.
- [00:02:45.641]Okay? So...
- [00:02:49.740]And now we have to wait for processing.
- [00:02:51.360]And this is something that we know
- [00:02:53.610]about most of AI that isn't text.
- [00:02:56.700]It's going to take some time to generate
- [00:02:58.980]all of these images, all of this,
- [00:03:01.890]making sure that it's fluid in the case of creating video.
- [00:03:05.400]And all of these things are really,
- [00:03:06.780]really important as you're trying to make something.
- [00:03:10.860]And remember that you have to play
- [00:03:13.560]with this platform a little bit.
- [00:03:15.630]This platform is new to me,
- [00:03:16.920]and this is the first time I'm using Veed
- [00:03:18.870]in any serious way.
- [00:03:20.370]And so spending some time with the platform
- [00:03:23.910]will make you aware of what are the capacities,
- [00:03:26.820]and also what are the limitations.
- [00:03:28.320]Yes.
- [00:03:29.370]What's your favorite thing about using Veed so far?
- [00:03:31.470]Yes. So- So far?
- [00:03:33.510]It gives you a voiceover, Mm-hmm.
- [00:03:36.360]And explaining the concept that you want to pass across.
- [00:03:40.830]And it also shows the specific
- [00:03:45.000]things that you ask it to do.
- [00:03:46.800]Let's say a real teacher, a classroom.
- [00:03:49.920]And it will help bring all those things
- [00:03:53.743]live for you to see,
- [00:03:55.290]for your children, or your kids also to see.
- [00:03:58.050]Yeah. And we've talked about this
- [00:04:01.140]a number of times,
- [00:04:02.040]with where AI and these visuals really come in handy,
- [00:04:06.780]is when you're trying to explain something
- [00:04:08.790]that is actually very hard to explain with just words,
- [00:04:12.750]or just reading about it.
- [00:04:14.370]That's when the visual, or a video,
- [00:04:17.580]or an animation can really augment
- [00:04:21.420]what you can deliver,
- [00:04:23.160]because you're getting to that point of difficulty,
- [00:04:26.010]and you're crossing it with something
- [00:04:28.380]that helps you see what's going on.
- [00:04:31.860]And that's why I love the short videos.
- [00:04:33.480]Because I really don't want my kids
- [00:04:35.250]to sit and watch a video for 35 minutes.
- [00:04:37.410]I want them to watch something
- [00:04:38.460]for two or three minutes, maybe even one minute.
- [00:04:41.010]They understand the concept,
- [00:04:42.180]and then they can practice it,
- [00:04:43.920]or they can do something creative with it.
- [00:04:46.590]And what I love is, it does explain what you're doing.
- [00:04:50.490]So it says, while you're preparing videos, it says,
- [00:04:52.867]"We're writing a script, we're recording the voiceover,
- [00:04:55.927]"we're generating the background music,
- [00:04:58.237]"and we're finding stock media to fill out the timeline."
- [00:05:02.490]So this is really telling you
- [00:05:04.080]what are the components that it's thinking through.
- [00:05:06.960]And this is one of my favorite things about the deep
- [00:05:12.240]research and the thinking, deep thinking AI
- [00:05:15.870]is it actually tells you what it's looking for,
- [00:05:18.630]which I find delightful.
- [00:05:20.310]Let's see what's happening.
- [00:05:22.646]So you can play. Yeah.
- [00:05:24.120]You can play the video.
- [00:05:25.639]Let's play a little bit of the video.
- [00:05:28.200]Found this, and they're super cool.
- [00:05:30.930]Let's dive in.
- [00:05:33.180]First, what is a force?
- [00:05:35.220]A force is a push or a pull
- [00:05:36.960]that can make things move or stop.
- [00:05:39.450]So imagine you're playing soccer.
- [00:05:41.760]When you kick the ball, that's a force.
- [00:05:44.460]It pushes the ball forward.
- [00:05:47.670]Let's talk about motion.
- [00:05:49.710]Motion is when something changes its position.
- [00:05:52.980]If you roll a toy cart down a ramp,
- [00:05:55.110]it moves from the top to the bottom.
- [00:05:57.930]That's motion in action.
- [00:06:00.780]There are different types of forces.
- [00:06:03.090]Gravity is one of the most important.
- [00:06:05.820]Pulls everything...
- [00:06:07.560]So, this is not fully rendered.
- [00:06:09.900]That's partially why the audio wasn't fully synced.
- [00:06:13.800]And it was also a little bit on the slow side.
- [00:06:17.400]Once you fully render it,
- [00:06:18.990]just like any other video, for those like,
- [00:06:23.340]for those who work with video, that's important.
- [00:06:27.090]What's your, what's your thoughts
- [00:06:28.770]about how this video worked?
- [00:06:30.330]Yeah, so it did what we expected,
- [00:06:33.270]but the only thing is that we specify
- [00:06:35.460]that it should give as a cartoon teacher,
- [00:06:37.680]but the teacher, I don't know if this is real.
- [00:06:40.500]That is not a cartoon.
- [00:06:41.520]Yeah. So that is the only challenge
- [00:06:43.590]that I have with this video.
- [00:06:45.990]Yeah. And we always got to go back to,
- [00:06:49.110]you've got to prompt a few times
- [00:06:51.270]before you get what you want.
- [00:06:52.890]Yeah. And you've gotta also
- [00:06:54.330]explore the boundaries.
- [00:06:55.830]I think that Veed was created
- [00:06:57.360]especially for these voiceover kind of videos.
- [00:07:02.070]It looks very TikTok oriented, right?
- [00:07:04.860]Both, it looks like it's on a phone
- [00:07:07.530]with the text going like that and all of these things,
- [00:07:10.530]which is fine.
- [00:07:11.363]There's nothing wrong with it,
- [00:07:12.780]but you have to know that that's what you're going to get.
- [00:07:15.300]And if you want something else,
- [00:07:16.290]you've gotta prompt it in a different way
- [00:07:17.970]and see where, where you can get it to.
- [00:07:22.202]So this is the workspace.
- [00:07:23.700]But when you render it and download it,
- [00:07:25.770]it will be on a full screen.
- [00:07:27.330]It will not be- Just so small?
- [00:07:29.070]Small like this. Yeah.
- [00:07:30.240]Okay. And can you show us one that you've created?
- [00:07:34.050]And by the way, I do want to, everybody to see,
- [00:07:37.170]if you are watching and not just listening,
- [00:07:39.750]you can see the timeline on the bottom,
- [00:07:41.520]which means you can actually edit the timeline yourself
- [00:07:45.150]if you don't like the order,
- [00:07:46.440]if you want to cut things out,
- [00:07:47.760]and if you want, you have the ability to actually manage it,
- [00:07:51.240]which is something that I like.
- [00:07:54.240]And it might be also the future
- [00:07:56.550]of how kids learn to produce video.
- [00:08:00.630]Yeah. So if you don't like that teacher there,
- [00:08:02.970]you can remove him and put your own image there.
- [00:08:06.690]Yep. That's good. So...
- [00:08:07.740]All right. So, if you go to your videos,
- [00:08:12.180]and you can see here that Williams have been playing
- [00:08:15.690]with quite a few videos trying to create different things.
- [00:08:18.990]And this is a video that is about a similar topic, right?
- [00:08:23.490]Yeah. Okay.
- [00:08:24.323]Today, we're diving into the exciting world,
- [00:08:27.390]force in motion.
- [00:08:28.620]Imagine we're pushing a toy car.
- [00:08:30.510]That push in force, forces can make things start moving,
- [00:08:34.380]stop moving, or change direction.
- [00:08:36.780]Now let's talk about motion.
- [00:08:38.340]Motion is when something changes its position.
- [00:08:41.250]If I roll this ball across the floor, it's in motion.
- [00:08:44.190]The faster I push it, the more force I'm using.
- [00:08:47.190]Did you know that there are different types of forces?
- [00:08:49.710]Gravity is one of the biggest.
- [00:08:52.117]It pulls everything toward the earth.
- [00:08:54.060]That's why when you jump, you come back down.
- [00:08:56.490]Friction is another force.
- [00:08:58.530]It's what happens when two surfaces rub into each other.
- [00:09:02.646]Think about a sliding down a slide.
- [00:09:04.020]If it's smooth, you go fast,
- [00:09:05.940]but if it's rough, you go slow.
- [00:09:08.278]So, Yes.
- [00:09:09.111]today on "AI in the Classroom,"
- [00:09:11.190]we showed you some things about creating video
- [00:09:13.680]and animation for educational purposes.
- [00:09:16.980]Yes. So without, it doesn't care about your background,
- [00:09:21.240]whether you are a science teacher or mathematics teacher,
- [00:09:23.010]you can just log into Veed,
- [00:09:25.350]and create some videos that will enhance your teaching.
- [00:09:30.210]And we'll see you next time on "AI in the Classroom."
- [00:09:33.241](lively music)
