- [00:00:12.000]Before I joined LEAD, I thought I didn't have time, you know, to do a program like this.
- [00:00:18.000]Well, wow, two years is a long commitment.
- [00:00:23.000]And that I had too much much going on. But
- [00:00:26.000]I'm glad that I did, because since being in
- [00:00:29.000]the program, it has really just opened my eyes to the
- [00:00:32.000]many opportunities that may come my way in the future, as well as
- [00:00:38.000]learning from
- [00:00:39.000]experts in different fields...
- [00:00:41.000]...their career path and how they got to where they
- [00:00:44.000]are. And that was really inspiring to me. That I
- [00:00:48.000]can continue being a lifelong learner and
- [00:00:51.000]really just keep taking
- [00:00:54.000]different leadership opportunities along the way.
- [00:00:56.000]LEAD has also given me the confidence to take that first step.
- [00:01:01.000]The other thing that really helped
- [00:01:04.000]me personally was the different learning styles that
- [00:01:07.000]are catered to.
- [00:01:10.000]I am a hands-on learner, so being able to visit different sites.
- [00:01:15.000]And
- [00:01:16.000]having that daily practice of standing up, saying your name, where
- [00:01:19.000]you're from, and then as well as just
- [00:01:24.000]the continued networking and making connections with your LEAD fellows
- [00:01:27.000]as well as people in Nebraska
- [00:01:30.000]you know, national leaders, and then on
- [00:01:33.000]our international seminar making those connections.
- [00:01:37.000]So
- [00:01:38.000]after LEAD, I'll continue and now I have that confidence
- [00:01:41.000]to connect with new people, shake their hand, make small talk
- [00:01:45.000]but then really learn about them.
- [00:01:48.000]The other thing I wanted to touch on was something that
- [00:01:51.000]really stuck with me from the international seminar, which
- [00:01:56.000]was the ADEPT Foundation and their
- [00:01:59.000]mission was to support local and
- [00:02:03.000]small agriculture communities
- [00:02:05.000]in Romania.
- [00:02:07.000]The way that they do that is by working
- [00:02:10.000]with those smaller producers and then helping
- [00:02:14.000]with their land management practices to achieve conservation goals.
- [00:02:19.000]And one thing that I really liked...one of their projects was creating
- [00:02:22.000]a local producers' logo
- [00:02:26.000]that the producers can put on their products and
- [00:02:29.000]then that that consumers can recognize and know that they're supporting their local producers.
- [00:02:34.000]So, I think it'd be great if Nebraska could
- [00:02:37.000]have some kind of label that our Nebraska producers can use
- [00:02:42.000]and then we can support our local farmers.
