[00:00:15.000]changed a lot of my thought process since I started a couple years ago.
[00:00:21.000]I'm probably one of the oldest of the pack.
[00:00:23.000]I have a a different trajectory and a purpose of why I wanted to be a part of LEAD.
[00:00:28.000]When I interviewed for the initial committee,
[00:00:31.000]one of the things I had mentioned was, I was very disconnected
[00:00:34.000]with agriculture and the state of Nebraska.
[00:00:36.000]And I wanted to get reconnected to know more about the issues,
[00:00:39.000]to be a better advocate for those issues as we move forward on
[00:00:42.000]key aspirations of why we use...
[00:00:46.000]do the things we are as leaders.
[00:00:48.000]I've had the opportunity to
[00:00:50.000]be on several boards and committees, both locally,
[00:00:54.000]state, federal and even my community. I probably have a different
[00:00:57.000]approach where I really took LEAD as a way to really fine tune
[00:01:01.000]the way I packaged my message and my story, and I've
[00:01:06.000]got a better sense of doing that with just hearing from different
[00:01:09.000]commodity groups, some of the issues we have in agriculture, how we approach that from
[00:01:13.000]not only a public speaking, but a communication engagement standpoint.
[00:01:17.000]Some of my goals really are to, one, continue to build relationships.
[00:01:21.000]I think of the collaboration, not only with my fellow LEAD group,
[00:01:25.000]but also the alumni, other leaders that were part of the LEAD
[00:01:29.000]presentations that we've been to both internationally and
[00:01:32.000]also at the state level. And as far as that to be really
[00:01:35.000]looking for those opportunities where I can use my past experiences to
[00:01:39.000]continue in an advocacy role. So, I continue to want to
[00:01:42.000]be part of that and be engaged and open to those opportunities.
[00:01:46.000]One of the famous quotes by Abraham Lincoln, and I keep close to my chest, is
[00:01:50.000]in order to predict the future is to
[00:01:53.000]create it, and that is so much true where I think even each
[00:01:57.000]of us that have a vital role being a leader can do that together.
