- [00:00:00.000]so a few resources I don't want to sit too far into this because we have like not that much time
- [00:00:14.460]left um and I really wanted to talk to you guys about descriptive teaching but um practical AAC
- [00:00:20.760]has a resource that's a year of core where they have outlined how you could work on core vocabulary
- [00:00:27.460]with like one week or one word a week for an entire year so um that link will take you out to
- [00:00:35.880]um practical AAC which is a great website for all things AAC um to do um to access their year of
- [00:00:43.820]core vocabulary resources and then communication workshop is another website um it's free to to
- [00:00:52.680]use for anybody and so it um has where you can pick um a word that you can use to work on core
- [00:00:57.440]that you want to start with you can see all of these words 194 of them um that they have um
- [00:01:05.580]library this library for and so um maybe we want to look at um
- [00:01:14.160]sorry lag uh finish maybe our word that we're working on is finish and so there are some
- [00:01:22.260]examples of what the symbols might be so you could print those and use those if you needed them
- [00:01:27.420]Some examples of when you might use the word finish.
- [00:01:30.600]So like, let's finish this project.
- [00:01:32.360]or describing something as finished and then depending on where your learner is
- [00:01:38.040]at there are different levels of how you might model that. So if you have a
- [00:01:42.680]one-word communicator a student who's communicating just in one word
- [00:01:48.400]finish, did finish. If you have a level two communicator and they're using two
- [00:01:55.700]to three words then maybe you're modeling we did finish, did you finish.
- [00:01:59.920]Same for level three as we get more and more complex. And then there are
- [00:02:05.320]activities at the bottom. So there are learning projects around the word finish.
- [00:02:11.420]There are activities with the word finish. There are books with the word
- [00:02:15.280]finish and these all link out to not like go get this book from your library
- [00:02:19.960]but here is just the link to the book you can read it right there. It's no
- [00:02:23.800]time, no prep. Topics that you might talk about that lend themselves to that word
- [00:02:28.660]and so there are
- [00:02:29.860]a ton of resources here if you pick your words out and you're like okay now what
- [00:02:33.820]what do I do? What activities am I going to do? This website has a ton of options
- [00:02:39.980]and resources as well. So you guys can look through those because I want to
- [00:02:45.020]make sure we get to talking about descriptive teaching.
- [00:02:49.720]you
- [00:02:51.780]you
- [00:02:53.840]you
- [00:02:55.900]you
- [00:02:57.960]you
