[00:00:21.166]- I worked in Hollywood for 20 years.
[00:00:23.208]I taught myself 3D modeling, rendering, texturing, rigging,
[00:00:26.916]animation, all of that.
[00:00:28.541]And so I ended up as a visual effects technical supervisor.
[00:00:31.583]Then, as I was working there, I really wanted to start working on my own
[00:00:34.750]materials.
[00:00:35.583]And so I began to sort of like, try to figure out where I could go, where
[00:00:39.458]I could put together all of my backgrounds in visual effects
[00:00:43.458]and filmmaking and animation and theater and all these things.
[00:00:47.708]The University of Nebraska is willing to take a chance on this
[00:00:51.333]and really push it, to recognize that we can be,
[00:00:56.333]a national force, especially in entertainment technology.
[00:01:00.000]I actually teach the digital fabrication and physical computing class
[00:01:03.541]out at Innovation Studio.
[00:01:05.625]- Innovation Studio, is the greatest toy shop in the world.
[00:01:10.000]It is - they have everything here.
[00:01:12.208]They were excited and welcoming to allow us to
[00:01:14.958]teach here - they encouraged us to come out. And that gave us the opportunity
[00:01:18.541]to do so many more machines, including traditional like wood shop
[00:01:22.416]kind of stuff, drill pressing, even even metalworking.
[00:01:26.458]Whether it's building props or building speculative science fiction design
[00:01:30.250]prototyping - any of these kind of things, we have an immense set of tools.
[00:01:34.666]We really are a flagship, and the fact that it's happening in Nebraska
[00:01:38.416]means that, you know, we don't have to be on a coast to do the best work, right?
[00:01:42.333]So we say “the best things come from the center”
[00:01:44.708]and we mean the Center here and the center of the country.
