[00:00:07.560]Over the holiday break, I will be offering a Face-to-Face YQCA Training
[00:00:13.440]for those who want to get their certification completed early for the year!
[00:00:17.740]It’s never too soon to check YQCA off your list.
[00:00:22.220]Nebraska 4-H requires all youth enrolled in livestock projects
[00:00:26.225]to complete annual quality assurance certification through
[00:00:31.060]Youth for the Quality Care of Animals or YQCA.
[00:00:35.620]This applies to 4-H members ages 8-18 who are enrolled in
[00:00:41.020]livestock projects such as: Beef, Dairy Cattle, Dairy Goats,
[00:00:46.820]Meat Goats, Poultry, Rabbits, Sheep, and Swine.
[00:00:52.360]Annual training can be completed either online via a web-based course
[00:00:57.420]or in person at a face-to-face instructor-led training.
[00:01:02.206]Please note that Clover Kids are not required to complete YQCA.
[00:01:07.456]I will be teaching a Face-to-Face YQCA Training during the holiday break
[00:01:12.376]on Monday, December 30 at 8:30am at the Holt County Annex in O’Neill.
[00:01:19.860]Training is expected to last about 1½ hours, so please plan accordingly.

[00:01:36.520]The Holt County 4-H Shooting Sports program kicked off the 2024-2025 4-H year
[00:01:44.183]with its Shooting Sports Kickoff Meeting this past Sunday, December 15.

[00:01:55.693]The deadline to enroll in Holt County 4-H Shooting Sports is January 6.
[00:02:01.593]Starting early is essential to ensure youth attend the required
[00:02:06.087]safety meetings and participate in multiple practices.
[00:02:10.670]This not only helps them develop safe gun-handling skills but
[00:02:15.290]also builds a strong foundation in shooting fundamentals.
[00:02:19.360]After all, the 4-H slogan is “Learn by Doing!”
[00:02:23.787]The focus of all 4-H programs is to help youth grow
[00:02:27.260]as individuals and as responsible, productive citizens.
[00:02:31.762]The 4-H Shooting Sports Program exemplifies this by
[00:02:35.220]teaching marksmanship, the safe and responsible use of firearms,
[00:02:41.260]hunting and archery principles, and much more.
[00:02:45.520]Through these activities, supported by caring adult leaders,
[00:02:49.375]young people gain valuable life skills, self-confidence, and conservation ethics.
[00:02:55.180]Youth participants can explore a variety of disciplines depending on their age,
[00:03:01.060]including Archery, BB Gun, Air Rifle & Air Pistol,
[00:03:07.185]Smallbore Rifle & Smallbore Pistol, Shotgun, Trap Team, and Muzzleloading.
