[00:00:10.375]suddenly, and maybe even for the first time, being heard and being able
[00:00:14.083]to speak in a certain way and acquire, like the power of being a public thinker.

[00:00:24.208]So today we're making a work of performance art together.

[00:00:32.875]tend to imagine about art history strictly is that it's for people who belong
[00:00:39.083]to a certain class of people, or people who have grown up
[00:00:42.583]looking at art and being taken to museums their whole lives.
[00:00:46.583]I certainly wasn't that person.
[00:00:50.208]The students really vary,
[00:00:52.083]and the thing that the most of them have in common is a curiosity
[00:00:56.625]about interrogating and articulating exactly what it is they're interested in.
[00:01:02.083]This notion that art is something that's always contained by a museum,
[00:01:05.500]or a gallery, or a temperature controlled space.
[00:01:08.708]Lincoln is the place to undermine that assumption and challenge
[00:01:13.250]those ideas of where art is located and where it can deploy in public.
