[00:00:10.700]Allison Rickey, Agricultural Research Technician for Dr. Bob Harvison's Plant Pathology Lab, was gathering seed heads on Monday, October 14th.
[00:00:19.400]We're trying to get the yield and the birds are really bad this year, so we've lost already 50 percent of the seeds out of the heads.
[00:00:26.100]So we're trying to prevent any further loss.
[00:00:29.820]Because sometimes if you have a lot of Phomopsis, you tend to lodge and then your yield will go way down.
[00:00:36.920]So we're trying to see which fungicides are helping the sunflower stand
[00:00:44.110]the longest. The sunflower stalks do have a lot of lodging this year, which comes with it being dry,
[00:00:50.610]hot and windy. The head's produced well, which is why you see the Phomopsis starting to
[00:00:57.830]lodge more with the weight of the head that wasn't able to hold the stalk up. So we do see a lot of
[00:01:04.690]lodging. And as far as stand goes this year, we had a pretty good stand, so we can't really
[00:01:11.890]complain about that. The project is to manage and maintain Phomopsis and is using 11 different
