- [00:00:00.480]Through the Clifton Strengths Program
- [00:00:02.040]here at the University of Nebraska Lincoln,
- [00:00:04.410]we empower students to excel by focusing on their strengths,
- [00:00:08.430]boosting their confidence and success
- [00:00:10.560]throughout their college journey.
- [00:00:12.510]Our student strengths coaches have the unique ability
- [00:00:15.210]to impact students' lives during pivotal moments.
- [00:00:18.450]Their passion and commitment
- [00:00:19.740]to investing in others are evident.
- [00:00:22.200]They cultivate trusting relationships
- [00:00:24.120]and empower students to excel,
- [00:00:26.100]leaving a lasting impact beyond the classroom.
- [00:00:30.450]A takeaway that I've had from being a part of the CSI
- [00:00:33.510]is the importance of community
- [00:00:34.951]and just how amazing it is to be able to surround yourself
- [00:00:38.220]with people that you admire and people you look up to.
- [00:00:41.340]And when you come alongside of those people,
- [00:00:43.200]I've learned that that's definitely when you learn the most.
- [00:00:46.590]Each coach plays a critical role
- [00:00:48.450]in supporting first year business students
- [00:00:50.640]enrolled in Vis Ed 111, Investing in Strengths.
- [00:00:54.240]They lead weekly recitations
- [00:00:55.890]and conduct individual coaching sessions
- [00:00:58.200]to help students explore and apply their unique strengths.
- [00:01:02.220]From being a coach, I've been able
- [00:01:04.230]to help my students learn what's unique about them,
- [00:01:06.750]and also just be a friend to them for their first semester
- [00:01:09.060]of college and beyond.
- [00:01:11.340]I remember being coached and my strengths coach
- [00:01:13.410]helping me to realize and recognize my own strengths
- [00:01:16.500]because it not only helped me to appreciate myself more,
- [00:01:19.530]but also to help me communicate
- [00:01:21.270]and understand what I bring to the table.
- [00:01:23.760]And the fact that I get to be that person
- [00:01:26.160]for another student is it's a full circle moment
- [00:01:28.830]and it helps me to fill my bucket.
- [00:01:31.200]Our coaches receive a semester of training
- [00:01:33.570]from a Gallup certified strengths coach.
- [00:01:36.330]They learned to coach around all 34 Clifton strengths
- [00:01:39.510]to help first year students, engagement, performance,
- [00:01:42.810]and wellbeing as they transition into college.
- [00:01:46.410]Management 451 stands out
- [00:01:48.450]because of the connections that I get to make
- [00:01:50.880]with the people in my class.
- [00:01:53.010]Some of my favorite parts were the icebreakers
- [00:01:55.380]when we really could just make those connections
- [00:01:58.410]and we could invest in each other,
- [00:02:00.030]in each other's strengths.
- [00:02:01.740]We can really just cheer each other on the entire time.
- [00:02:05.700]By the end of the course,
- [00:02:06.870]students are prepared to lead recitation classes,
- [00:02:09.690]teach strength-based concepts, facilitate activities,
- [00:02:13.260]and conduct one-on-one coaching sessions.
- [00:02:16.620]What I enjoy most about coaching
- [00:02:18.300]is when I'm coaching a student and their face lights up
- [00:02:21.060]because they see their strengths
- [00:02:22.950]actually playing out in their lives.
- [00:02:24.870]I just love helping students realize their innate talents
- [00:02:29.880]and to see how they can change the world
- [00:02:32.520]with their strengths.
- [00:02:34.200]As a student strengths coach, you'll discover the rewards
- [00:02:36.750]of investing in others, the joy of seeing others succeed,
- [00:02:40.170]and the continuous improvement
- [00:02:41.640]that comes from uplifting those around you.
- [00:02:44.340]Be a coach, be coached and be a part of something bigger.
