- [00:00:00.880]Hello everyone, my name is Megan and I'm from the College of Arts and Sciences.
- [00:00:04.040]The biggest piece of feedback we hear from employers after every career fair season is
- [00:00:08.800]that students aren't doing enough research about the employers who are attending the
- [00:00:12.380]fair.
- [00:00:12.580]So let's talk a little bit more about how you can be doing that research and where you
- [00:00:16.700]should be looking for that important information.
- [00:00:18.720]First, you'll always want to check that company or organization's website.
- [00:00:22.500]Look closely at their mission and their values.
- [00:00:24.940]Learn more about their clients or customers, the products or services that they provide.
- [00:00:29.860]And check out the careers page because there might be an interesting job or internship
- [00:00:35.020]that you can talk more about at the career fair.
- [00:00:37.800]Next, look at their social media accounts,
- [00:00:40.560]LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X.
- [00:00:43.260]All of these are great places to see more current updates
- [00:00:46.080]about each of these organizations
- [00:00:47.460]and get a feel for their overall culture.
- [00:00:49.660]To really take it a step further,
- [00:00:51.620]you can read reviews about these organizations
- [00:00:54.100]through sites like Glassdoor and Indeed.com
- [00:00:56.940]to better understand other people's experiences
- [00:00:59.440]working with those organizations.
- [00:01:01.500]Overall, the more research that you do,
- [00:01:04.440]the more prepared you will feel
- [00:01:05.760]to approach those employers at the fair
- [00:01:07.600]and the more you'll stand out.
