[00:00:05.625]is the only public university system of the state.
[00:00:09.375]A system that allows our students to be taught
[00:00:11.750]and mentored by the very best faculty.
[00:00:15.250]The Presidential Scholars Program,
[00:00:17.416]initiated in the spring of 2024,
[00:00:21.041]was created to enroll and to create successful opportunities
[00:00:26.500]for those students with perfect ACT scores.
[00:00:31.250]when I heard about this scholarship from my parents,
[00:00:34.041]I was super excited
[00:00:34.958]because then there wasn't as much pressure on the money part of the decision,
[00:00:38.833]and it was more on what I felt, more catered to me and my interests.
[00:00:43.625]The program is structured from a financial perspective
[00:00:47.375]to include all tuition fees, residential costs
[00:00:53.041]such as room and board, books and a stipend to support the student.
[00:01:00.416]So we're a very strategic thinking family.
[00:01:03.208]My parents and I, we really like to plan ahead for things,
[00:01:06.500]but that can also create some anxiety. With this scholarship,
[00:01:09.541]I know that I'm taken care of for the next four years,
[00:01:11.916]and that just relieves a lot of anxiety off of us.
[00:01:15.125]The scholarship is available to all students
[00:01:19.000]who are Nebraskans for all of our undergraduate campuses
[00:01:23.166]in all of our programs.
[00:01:26.458]Something that made UNL really stand out to me,
[00:01:29.375]it wasn't just that it was close to my family or the Raikes program.
[00:01:33.000]I've also been to campus a lot from FFA activities and my parents both went here.
[00:01:38.250]So those are some factors that helped make UNL the right decision for me.
[00:01:42.250]I feel comfortable here.
[00:01:44.000]I feel like I belong here, that's why I chose UNL.
[00:01:47.666]50% of our graduates will take their first job and set down
[00:01:51.458]their first set of family roots
[00:01:53.041]within 50 miles of where they completed their education.
[00:01:56.958]That's the theory–provide a unique educational experience
[00:02:00.833]and then encourage through internships and job opportunities
[00:02:04.958]these young women and young men to set their roots down in the community
[00:02:08.541]and continue to pay it forward.
[00:02:10.791]I'm just super excited to have this opportunity,
[00:02:13.125]and I'm super grateful for that scholarship.
