- [00:00:07.830]When you think of 4-H, do you imagine a farm
- [00:00:10.616]and exhibiting animals at the county fair?
- [00:00:14.039]Well, think again. 4-H is about so much more.
- [00:00:18.071]4-H is about learning lifelong skills, creating new friendships,
- [00:00:22.071]discovering new opportunities, exploring projects, and more.
- [00:00:27.516]4-H offers a wide variety of projects and interests such as
- [00:00:32.606]consumer & family sciences, communications & expressive arts,
- [00:00:38.202]animals, plants, healthy living, environmental sciences,
- [00:00:44.336]science & technology, engineering and college readiness,
- [00:00:49.866]agricultural literacy, citizenship and leadership.
- [00:00:53.786]In fact, there are over 150 projects youth can choose from.
- [00:00:58.394]Some learning activities 4-H’ers might participate in include
- [00:01:03.594]communication events, quality assurance training if raising animals for consumption,
- [00:01:11.224]livestock judging, home environment, pre-fair days and workshops.
- [00:01:16.674]There is a variety of workshops 4-H’ers may attend this summer
- [00:01:21.839]that also provide learning experiences as well as lots of fun!
- [00:01:27.066]4-H is for the whole family – 4-H is more than an activity for youth.
- [00:01:31.781]4-H can be a shared experience for the whole family.
- [00:01:35.931]Parents, siblings, and relatives can have fun, discovering, working hard,
- [00:01:41.703]and growing along with their 4-H youth through 4-H projects and activities.
- [00:01:47.180]By making 4-H a family affair,
- [00:01:49.180]thousands of families enjoy the quality time it gives them.
- [00:01:54.530]Adult volunteers can also lead clubs, lend their
- [00:01:58.441]expertise to a particular project areas,
- [00:02:01.977]lead workshops and serve on committees with other volunteers.
- [00:02:07.743]While enrollment in 4-H is open year-round,
- [00:02:10.863]youth interested in participating in the
- [00:02:13.273]county fair or the Nebraska State Fair must complete enrollment
- [00:02:18.523]through 4-H online by June 15.
