- [00:00:19.720]Good morning and welcome to the Limit Nebraska presentation.
- [00:00:23.880]Today, we're going to speak a little bit about what it feels
- [00:00:27.239]like to live on campus here at the University of Nebraska at
- [00:00:30.599]Lincoln.
- [00:00:31.280]I'm super excited to have you here today.
- [00:00:34.680]My name is Lucas Novotny.
- [00:00:35.920]I serve as the Executive Director of Housing and Dining
- [00:00:39.125]here at the University and I am super jazzed to be able to speak
- [00:00:42.846]to you a little bit more in during our time together about
- [00:00:46.224]what we have to offer here on campus.
- [00:00:49.360]So anytime and the folks here hear me say this often, anytime
- [00:00:54.053]that I get to have an audience with individuals like you, I'm
- [00:00:58.747]going to talk about why students live on campus and.
- [00:01:03.040]It's just what we do here.
- [00:01:04.680]And so we're super excited to welcome you here.
- [00:01:06.880]Students who live on campus at the University of Nebraska are
- [00:01:10.357]just better for this decision.
- [00:01:12.440]I can prove to you through data that students who live on campus
- [00:01:16.364]are more engaged, they graduate at higher rates, they are
- [00:01:19.866]retained at higher levels, they develop leadership greater than
- [00:01:23.731]their off campus peers.
- [00:01:25.440]There are, just Simply put, so many reasons why students are
- [00:01:29.913]better for this choice.
- [00:01:31.720]And so I'm super excited that you've made that choice for us
- [00:01:34.934]and with us and hope to hope to enthuse you a little bit
- [00:01:37.937]throughout my presentation.
- [00:01:40.120]Today's agenda, I'm just going to simply walk through a little
- [00:01:43.338]bit high level here, not intended to go super deep, just
- [00:01:46.250]a little bit about your hall, about dining services and about
- [00:01:49.418]the move in process.
- [00:01:50.440]That's what we're going to cover today.
- [00:01:51.880]So first, I'd love to speak to you a little bit about your new
- [00:01:55.206]Husker home.
- [00:01:57.000]Many of you here, if you're at an orientation or you're online,
- [00:02:00.505]you have already have received your housing assignment, which
- [00:02:03.900]is cool, which is a new thing so you know where you're going to
- [00:02:07.406]live.
- [00:02:08.320]Many of you, as a part of that process of selecting your
- [00:02:10.855]housing assignment and receiving your housing assignment, you've
- [00:02:13.746]selected a meal plan.
- [00:02:15.040]Most of you are in that bucket.
- [00:02:17.560]There are a few of you here who are still considering, who
- [00:02:20.313]haven't maybe crossed that, that mark or haven't received a
- [00:02:23.113]housing assignment.
- [00:02:24.240]Please know as you complete your app your housing application.
- [00:02:27.080]You will receive that housing assignment from our office here
- [00:02:30.872]in a on a weekly basis.
- [00:02:32.640]Also if you haven't picked a meal plan, go back into the
- [00:02:36.335]portal, select that meal plan.
- [00:02:38.560]And also if throughout the presentation you see you find
- [00:02:41.980]yourself wanting to maybe switch a meal plan, you can do so at
- [00:02:45.760]any point throughout the summer.
- [00:02:47.880]So I just wanted to highlight kind of where we are in the
- [00:02:50.551]process.
- [00:02:52.360]But as you start to think about your new Husker home, I want to
- [00:02:55.710]talk a little bit about what it means to live on campus and what
- [00:02:59.113]you're going to get.
- [00:03:00.560]What are, what's the value that you will receive as a as a part
- [00:03:04.286]of that living experience.
- [00:03:07.440]First, I want to make a promise to you or a commitment to you.
- [00:03:11.880]Our commitment as you live with us, our commitments to care,
- [00:03:15.224]we're going to care about you and our residence halls.
- [00:03:18.400]We're going to provide a whole bunch of supportive staff who
- [00:03:22.133]are there to provide you programming there, to know you
- [00:03:25.561]by name, there to secure and maintain your environment, to
- [00:03:29.172]engage you in community, to help you find your purpose.
- [00:03:32.960]We're going to do so many things to ensure that you have a great
- [00:03:37.037]residential experience.
- [00:03:38.960]You will hear throughout your onboarding experience, going to
- [00:03:43.156]coming to campus, throughout orientation, throughout Big Red,
- [00:03:47.353]Welcome, throughout all of your kind of first experiences here
- [00:03:51.618]on campus and beyond.
- [00:03:53.200]You're going to hear a little bit about the Husker Student
- [00:03:56.252]Power framework and as a part of resident's life.
- [00:03:58.840]We really subscribe to this framework and you'll hear more
- [00:04:03.004]about that throughout your your time here.
- [00:04:06.320]But Simply put, the power is a stands for a few things.
- [00:04:10.400]It's E stands for purpose, where we're going to help you as a
- [00:04:13.536]part of all of the programming here at the university define
- [00:04:16.622]your purpose.
- [00:04:17.720]We're going to talk about your ownership.
- [00:04:19.240]That's that O level and how you can come become engaged in your
- [00:04:23.287]community.
- [00:04:24.600]We're going to provide you Wellness or well-being.
- [00:04:26.840]That's the West.
- [00:04:28.120]Think about making sure that you're mentally, emotionally,
- [00:04:31.521]physically well and then we're going to engage you.
- [00:04:34.520]That's that E you see where I'm going and we're going to provide
- [00:04:37.514]programs and services and offerings for you to become
- [00:04:40.002]engaged in that community.
- [00:04:41.400]And where we think we thrive in residential life and the
- [00:04:44.258]residential experiences, we're going to help you find
- [00:04:46.966]relationships to community.
- [00:04:48.640]And so this power framework drives our experience here at
- [00:04:51.960]the university and it's something that we're really
- [00:04:54.937]proud to, to be a part of and to help deliver to you that makes
- [00:04:58.601]your Husker experience just that much different than what you get
- [00:05:02.380]any other institution.
- [00:05:04.360]But it what is common in any residential experience and
- [00:05:07.582]that's why I want to spend a little bit of time speaking to
- [00:05:11.034]you about, is this idea of a roommate and I will talk to you
- [00:05:14.544]and you'll hear from your hall staff all the time, is that this
- [00:05:18.227]is probably the first time that many of you have ever lived with
- [00:05:21.967]a roommate.
- [00:05:22.840]We understand that.
- [00:05:23.760]We know that we want you to start to think about this when
- [00:05:27.255]we think about preparing you for a life well lived, about this
- [00:05:30.988]life skills, development of what it means to live with somebody.
- [00:05:35.520]This is something that is quintessential to the
- [00:05:37.852]residential experience here at the University of Nebraska.
- [00:05:40.960]We value the roommate experience.
- [00:05:42.840]We know that many of you will have great relationships.
- [00:05:47.040]We know that some of you will be stretched in other relationships
- [00:05:50.845]and we're here as a staff who live with you.
- [00:05:53.440]You have an RA on your floor, you have an Rd.
- [00:05:56.080]you have many residential life professionals who are here to
- [00:05:59.255]support you.
- [00:06:00.080]We're here to help you and support you along that resident,
- [00:06:04.169]that roommate journey of becoming who you are,
- [00:06:07.373]establishing yourself as a a contributing member to
- [00:06:10.918]community.
- [00:06:11.920]All of these things are what happens when you live with, when
- [00:06:14.754]you live on campus and when you live with somebody else.
- [00:06:17.520]So we're super excited to do that.
- [00:06:20.040]It's much more than just a roof over your head.
- [00:06:21.920]As we will talk about and you'll hear, we again, our small staff
- [00:06:25.896]is going to provide you opportunities, programs, it's
- [00:06:29.200]big and small to become engaged in this community, to get out to
- [00:06:33.177]know people, think this idea of living in community with
- [00:06:36.664]thousands of your other friends based on the complex that you're
- [00:06:40.641]in is is something really cool and something really special
- [00:06:44.312]here at the university.
- [00:06:46.480]And so you'll hear more and more and more about those
- [00:06:49.617]opportunities as you as you again continue your onboarding
- [00:06:53.046]experience here at the university.
- [00:06:56.640]So I want to take a little bit of time here in our presentation
- [00:06:59.527]to speak about dining.
- [00:07:02.680]We love and believe in the power of our dining experience and how
- [00:07:07.163]it prepares you for success in college.
- [00:07:09.880]And I want to speak to you a little bit about that today.
- [00:07:14.800]We know again, this orientation experience is something that you
- [00:07:18.700]get a lot of information at you very, very fast.
- [00:07:22.480]So I want to sort of digest, not to use a silly pun here, but I
- [00:07:26.281]want to digest the meal plan program for you and do 2 simple
- [00:07:29.904]things.
- [00:07:30.320]If you know nothing about dining, know this, know that
- [00:07:33.213]there's an idea that there's meal swipes and that there are
- [00:07:36.370]dining dollars.
- [00:07:38.120]Our meal plan program is super convenient.
- [00:07:42.160]We have a whole bunch of ways and a whole bunch of
- [00:07:45.598]opportunities for you to get engaged.
- [00:07:48.160]We have 13 campus restaurants, 5 all security dining centers.
- [00:07:52.600]There's so much stuff going on, but with that convenience comes
- [00:07:56.491]complexity.
- [00:07:57.160]So again, that's what I want to break down today.
- [00:07:59.000]Meal plan or meal swipes and dining dollars Meal swipes are
- [00:08:03.291]you'll on your meal plan.
- [00:08:05.080]That's that first number you select a meal plan that has a
- [00:08:09.421]number of meal swipes.
- [00:08:11.320]Those swipes get you into one of our dining centers.
- [00:08:16.000]Particularly, I'll speak about all you care to eat facilities.
- [00:08:19.600]They you swipe your card, use a meal swipe, you get into the
- [00:08:23.477]room and you use all and have all you care to eat.
- [00:08:27.280]That's for one meal swipe.
- [00:08:29.760]There are also some opportunities for you and that
- [00:08:32.364]you'll learn as you come to campus where you can use your
- [00:08:35.325]meal swipe for our mobile order.
- [00:08:36.960]I'll speak a little bit more about that in a second.
- [00:08:39.120]Or you can also use your meal a meal swipe for some meal
- [00:08:41.895]equivalency.
- [00:08:42.480]Again, that's where it gets a little bit complex, but you use
- [00:08:46.464]your meal swipe every week.
- [00:08:49.120]Those meal swipes, that balance of meal swipes recycles every
- [00:08:53.253]Sunday.
- [00:08:53.720]So if you're on the 14 plan, you have 14 meals throughout the
- [00:08:57.892]week and then if whatever you don't use, you lose and then
- [00:09:01.862]they recycle the next week.
- [00:09:04.680]We in dining services offer 19 meal periods per week.
- [00:09:08.440]That's brunch.
- [00:09:09.400]That's breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday through Friday and
- [00:09:12.740]brunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday.
- [00:09:15.960]Also, as a part of your meal plan, you have Dining dollars.
- [00:09:19.600]Dining dollars is where you get that variety.
- [00:09:21.920]Dining Dollars is where you can use your buffer, your purchasing
- [00:09:26.531]power and other campus dining locations.
- [00:09:30.240]So think about that as points or purchasing power flexibility.
- [00:09:35.040]OK.
- [00:09:35.640]So you would use your Dining Dollars, say at Starbucks where
- [00:09:39.706]you would go and each meal plan has a balance of Dining dollars.
- [00:09:44.360]You would swipe against that declining balance or a budget of
- [00:09:48.418]Dining dollars.
- [00:09:49.720]And when those are done for the for the year or for the
- [00:09:53.274]semester, they they retire as well.
- [00:09:55.560]So Dining Dollars are based on the semester and So what you
- [00:10:00.404]don't use will retire and then you will reload a second set of
- [00:10:05.491]$90.00 in the in the spring semester.
- [00:10:09.040]OK, so that's what that's how you kind of use your meal plan.
- [00:10:13.080]So again, if you learn nothing today, learn that there's meal
- [00:10:16.764]swipes and that there are Dining Dollars in your packets and on
- [00:10:20.568]your on in the resources that we are providing to individuals who
- [00:10:24.490]attend the new student orientation process, there's a
- [00:10:27.699]what's next with dining services.
- [00:10:30.600]I would encourage you to look through that hand out.
- [00:10:34.720]It goes more into depth about what you would experience in
- [00:10:38.615]dining services ways to use your meal plan.
- [00:10:41.520]The exciting things that are happening goes a little bit
- [00:10:44.035]deeper into the meal equivalency piece.
- [00:10:46.360]It's really a great next step to understand how to leverage your
- [00:10:51.382]meal plan today if you were on site and in on campus, I want to
- [00:10:56.328]talk a little bit about what you'll see today.
- [00:11:00.320]Today you will go into Selick Dining Center and Selick is our
- [00:11:04.427]mobile first, one of our mobile first dining centers where on
- [00:11:08.535]your students, on your dining app, students can download that
- [00:11:12.643]and they can order a Qdoba burrito bowl.
- [00:11:15.360]They can order a salad from grains and greens.
- [00:11:17.560]They can order pasta from our pasta bueno.
- [00:11:19.680]They can order a smoothie, a Godfather's Pizza.
- [00:11:22.920]There's a lot of options in those restaurants.
- [00:11:24.680]In Selleck, it's a food court, food hall.
- [00:11:28.360]I order that burrito bowl to my liking.
- [00:11:31.960]Hit submit.
- [00:11:34.200]That's for one swipe on my dining plan, I get AQR code for
- [00:11:37.951]it's ready for my individual order.
- [00:11:40.240]I walk up to the Qdoba station.
- [00:11:42.400]Swipe my QR code, they say Thank you, Lucas.
- [00:11:45.360]Here's your burrito bowl made to your liking.
- [00:11:48.280]So you'll get a reduced version of that today.
- [00:11:50.360]Just sort of feel it, see how it can work, where we have prepared
- [00:11:54.275]our most popular meals, where you'll walk into Selleck and be
- [00:11:57.952]able to select from our one of our restaurants.
- [00:12:01.400]So you can kind of get the feel of how that mobile order might
- [00:12:04.809]work.
- [00:12:06.440]Also today and new for this student orientation is our our
- [00:12:09.953]commitment to sustainability.
- [00:12:11.680]I'm really proud of what our dining services program does as
- [00:12:15.330]it relates to sustainability and our commitment to care for the
- [00:12:19.161]land, care for our our Stewart, our resources that we're given
- [00:12:22.932]all of the meals in select today will be on reusable through our
- [00:12:26.822]Ozzie containers.
- [00:12:27.840]So our Green Box program that is always an option for you in our
- [00:12:31.632]dining centers to our mobile order dining center in select to
- [00:12:35.249]say I'd like that on reusable.
- [00:12:37.400]And so you'll get to feel that and see how you can contribute
- [00:12:40.965]to sustainability.
- [00:12:42.000]As a part of the dining services program.
- [00:12:44.440]Again all of our meals today will be served on our reusable
- [00:12:47.506]green boxes.
- [00:12:48.880]You'll scrape remaining food into the trash and then you'll
- [00:12:52.968]deposit the green Box in the in the receptacle for reuse.
- [00:12:57.800]This is a great program that we would love your commitment to.
- [00:12:59.960]This is something that our students have asked for over and
- [00:13:02.123]over again.
- [00:13:02.720]But what I will say is it takes your engagement as well.
- [00:13:06.520]We're so proud and so happy to be able to bring this program to
- [00:13:09.305]you.
- [00:13:09.480]But we need your partnership in caring for our earth and caring
- [00:13:13.161]for this is our sustainable initiatives.
- [00:13:15.920]So that's what you'll see today in dining services.
- [00:13:19.040]So you probably know most of that as far as what you've heard
- [00:13:23.047]from our department and how we talk about housing and talk
- [00:13:26.861]about meal plans.
- [00:13:28.800]But now you're here and now you're already starting to see
- [00:13:32.311]yourself as a Nebraska student trying to see yourself as a
- [00:13:35.823]Husker.
- [00:13:36.720]And I want to talk about what's next.
- [00:13:38.400]I want to talk about the excitement of move in.
- [00:13:41.120]And I'm so this is that section.
- [00:13:44.280]When you get to campus, I want you to understand that we really
- [00:13:47.223]have you taken care of and you don't have to lift a finger in
- [00:13:50.074]many ways and we'll take care of you and we'll walk through that
- [00:13:53.064]process for you.
- [00:13:54.840]So our move in day is just a couple of quick pieces here.
- [00:13:58.240]Our move in day is going to be August 18th through the 22nd.
- [00:14:02.560]Your move in times are sent in relationship to your hall.
- [00:14:06.200]So a certain complex will move in one day versus the other.
- [00:14:10.120]It's a little bit premature for us to announce those.
- [00:14:12.120]We'll get those right as we're working with our moving company,
- [00:14:15.603]we'll get those to you right after the conclusion of our NSC
- [00:14:18.924]program.
- [00:14:19.560]You'll get another e-mail from our office that outlines tons of
- [00:14:22.459]different information about that.
- [00:14:24.240]But I made mention to a moving company and so we've partnership
- [00:14:28.413]we've partnered with USS Moving and they come and they you get
- [00:14:32.520]you pack up your you pack up your car, you get into the
- [00:14:36.172]moving line and these individuals come to your car,
- [00:14:39.562]unload it, bring it up to your room and you don't really even
- [00:14:43.605]have to move a finger.
- [00:14:45.040]Like I said you just get there your boxes are in your room
- [00:14:48.180]after your your parents have parked the car and there you
- [00:14:51.267]are.
- [00:14:52.240]It's great.
- [00:14:53.800]So we'll start the Devaney Center to get you checked in.
- [00:14:57.040]We'll get you in line.
- [00:14:57.880]We'll give you a map we'll get you to go in.
- [00:14:59.440]Please don't skip the the Devaney Center.
- [00:15:02.320]It's all sort of predicated on that And then you will walk in,
- [00:15:05.753]you'll get in, we'll move in line and then it all kind of
- [00:15:08.913]flows from there.
- [00:15:10.040]It's a really exciting an awesome day.
- [00:15:14.080]And so I would encourage all the parents, all the family members,
- [00:15:18.188]everybody who's coming to move in to just drink it in, take
- [00:15:21.923]your time, experience it.
- [00:15:23.480]It's sometimes we've gotten feedback from the positive side
- [00:15:27.316]that it's so fast, it's so easy that sometimes it's done and
- [00:15:31.216]we've missed it.
- [00:15:32.320]And so I would encourage parents to stop.
- [00:15:34.560]Take a picture students.
- [00:15:35.960]Let your let your parents take that extra picture, that dorky
- [00:15:38.651]one that you don't want to take.
- [00:15:40.960]Just drink this whole experience and it's a very exciting time as
- [00:15:44.498]you step through the doorstep of your adulthood and it's really,
- [00:15:47.983]really great.
- [00:15:49.640]Just a couple more logistics.
- [00:15:51.200]There's one car through the move in line and so be strategic
- [00:15:55.300]about that.
- [00:15:56.800]Maybe think about what type of car you would bring to move in
- [00:16:01.012]as you can.
- [00:16:02.120]Probably many of you are thinking about how you can stuff
- [00:16:04.440]as much stuff into those residence hall rooms.
- [00:16:07.560]So one car on the move in line, the other car can of course
- [00:16:10.366]come.
- [00:16:11.040]They just park in an extra lot and then they then they walk to
- [00:16:14.238]the to the residence hall that you are your student is assigned
- [00:16:17.487]to.
- [00:16:20.560]If you want to learn more and and I would encourage you here's
- [00:16:24.676]on my little plug, we'll have a move in webinar on July 16th and
- [00:16:28.923]July 18th that will go further into depth about everything move
- [00:16:33.105]in and getting you excited and answering some more specific
- [00:16:37.026]questions.
- [00:16:37.680]But again my job today is to be pretty high level.
- [00:16:41.200]So on our website and our move in web page there are things
- [00:16:46.313]that are there's a packing list.
- [00:16:49.040]There's a a suggested what to bring list.
- [00:16:51.840]So I'd encourage you to start to think about what you can start
- [00:16:57.219]to prepare for.
- [00:16:58.800]I'd also encourage you to think about reusables and limiting
- [00:17:02.064]cardboard.
- [00:17:03.440]And again, this is sustainable initiative that requires your
- [00:17:06.615]partnership.
- [00:17:07.240]So I would think about how you might be thoughtful about
- [00:17:10.888]packing.
- [00:17:12.000]Totes are great.
- [00:17:12.840]They offer great storage into the residence halls as well.
- [00:17:16.680]So think about everything that you're bringing and how you are
- [00:17:20.772]contributing to, again, our commitment to sustainability
- [00:17:24.475]before you get there.
- [00:17:25.840]I think I would encourage you to connect with your roommate when
- [00:17:28.712]you get your housing assignment, you already have many of you
- [00:17:31.452]already have it.
- [00:17:32.160]As I said, start that communication early.
- [00:17:35.760]Think about who's bringing what.
- [00:17:37.440]We don't need two of everything, right?
- [00:17:39.120]We don't need two TV's and two futons.
- [00:17:41.880]Who's bringing that?
- [00:17:42.760]Who's bringing this?
- [00:17:44.200]And start that conversation.
- [00:17:45.160]Those are easy, low barrier conversations to a new roommate
- [00:17:48.414]relationship.
- [00:17:49.120]But then I would encourage you to go a little bit deeper, think
- [00:17:51.765]about expectation setting and how we're going to navigate this
- [00:17:54.370]roommate relationship.
- [00:17:55.280]What are our expectations of one another?
- [00:17:57.560]It's just my simple statement that the majority of conflicts
- [00:18:01.806]in life, not our roommate conflicts the majority of
- [00:18:05.426]conflicts in life.
- [00:18:06.680]And I would encourage you to ask your parents as well, your
- [00:18:09.442]family members that are there, that the majority of conflicts
- [00:18:12.297]in life come from unmet expectations and lack of clarity
- [00:18:14.921]around those.
- [00:18:16.000]So be talking about what you expect in a roommate.
- [00:18:18.440]That would be a really helpful conversation for you to help
- [00:18:20.725]navigate this next step.
- [00:18:22.000]I've already talked about the webinar.
- [00:18:23.280]I think that's really important for you to, to get your
- [00:18:26.893]questions answered.
- [00:18:28.120]So please join us.
- [00:18:30.200]But also on that day when you get here, let's think about
- [00:18:33.035]that.
- [00:18:33.280]We're kind of moving ourselves through.
- [00:18:35.760]You're going to meet your RA.
- [00:18:36.600]You're going to meet that upper division student who's there to
- [00:18:39.575]live life with you, who's there to answer questions, who's there
- [00:18:42.598]to be your go to, who's there to provide programming and
- [00:18:45.248]engagement.
- [00:18:46.080]They're a really, really important person.
- [00:18:47.480]We're really proud of our our RASI think they're some of the
- [00:18:51.015]best students in this campus and they do a phenomenal job for us.
- [00:18:54.840]And they're people who I hope you find a ton of value in when
- [00:18:59.072]you get here.
- [00:19:00.480]I know that people want to customize their room.
- [00:19:02.400]And again, our packing list and those types of things can kind
- [00:19:05.222]of give you some insight into those.
- [00:19:07.200]But depending on the hall, you have different choices of where
- [00:19:10.116]your beds are going to be.
- [00:19:12.040]We know that the majority of our students want to loft their beds
- [00:19:15.593]and so we will have those pre lofted for you, but that doesn't
- [00:19:18.984]mean that you have to do that.
- [00:19:20.720]We'll have plenty of materials and mallets and those types of
- [00:19:24.026]things have staff ready to assist you to customize the bed
- [00:19:27.173]to the bed height that you would desire when you get here.
- [00:19:31.120]Maybe that's where we'd have to lift a couple fingers.
- [00:19:33.320]But we're we're definitely going to prepare everything for you to
- [00:19:37.641]be able to have that that room customized to your liking.
- [00:19:42.200]And then if I could, I'd like, I've already started to say just
- [00:19:44.724]enjoy it.
- [00:19:45.440]This is a big day.
- [00:19:46.200]This is super exciting.
- [00:19:47.640]There's a lot of fun, a lot of smiles, drink it in, take
- [00:19:51.516]pictures, send some Instagramable moments.
- [00:19:54.440]There's plenty of opportunities for you.
- [00:19:56.760]And so I just just drink it in is all I can sort of say.
- [00:20:02.280]Again, I want to point to some of the resources that are
- [00:20:05.042]provided to you, either in your bag or online.
- [00:20:08.080]Plenty of additional resources call attention to a couple QR
- [00:20:12.356]codes there for you to have.
- [00:20:14.320]Again, a direct link to our move in website, a direct link to our
- [00:20:18.946]Living in Hall community resource.
- [00:20:21.920]There's an opportunity for you already start to think about
- [00:20:25.024]your hall swag and what it's like to get that able hall
- [00:20:27.921]T-shirt or that Harper Hall T-shirt or sweatshirt.
- [00:20:30.840]So there's an opportunity for you to start to show some hall
- [00:20:33.524]pride from day one.
- [00:20:35.320]And as you get here, I already have that dining app loaded on
- [00:20:38.434]your phone ready to go so that you can start to take advantage
- [00:20:41.599]of leverage our dining resources from day one.
- [00:20:46.400]Also, I just throw out a nod to connect with us.
- [00:20:49.120]There are plenty of opportunities for us to hear
- [00:20:51.080]what's going on, to see what life in the residence halls look
- [00:20:53.560]like.
- [00:20:54.440]So connect with us, follow us.
- [00:20:57.040]We would love to engage with you in that plat in these platforms.
- [00:21:02.920]And if I could be so bold to just sort of in summary here to
- [00:21:06.018]just kind of recap some of the things that I found to be really
- [00:21:09.269]important is again, please start to connect with that roommate.
- [00:21:13.600]I think that's super, super and critical for you right now at
- [00:21:16.451]this juncture of what you can start to do, watch for moving
- [00:21:19.210]information that's coming around the corner.
- [00:21:21.280]I know that's probably that next piece of information that you
- [00:21:24.444]need to start to feel settled when it comes to your onboarding
- [00:21:27.609]experience and your next steps to watch that.
- [00:21:30.640]And this is where the boldness comes start to see yourself
- [00:21:34.170]here, start to imagine what it's like to live in on campus.
- [00:21:37.760]This is going to be your home for the next year.
- [00:21:40.160]We're super excited that you're going to start to do that with
- [00:21:42.909]us.
- [00:21:43.680]But just imagine yourself here and start to plan how you might
- [00:21:47.842]want to leverage that Husker power idea, how you might want
- [00:21:51.806]to be start to become engaged in this experience, the
- [00:21:55.373]relationships that you want to form, the how you're going to
- [00:21:59.403]become, well, the opportunity for your purpose and your
- [00:22:03.103]personal ownership of this experience.
- [00:22:05.680]So start to imagine those things.
- [00:22:08.480]If I could ask you to do that from this period until move in,
- [00:22:13.921]I'm super, super excited to welcome you.
- [00:22:17.800]Here's a resource for you that has all the NSC resources that I
- [00:22:22.174]think you have.
- [00:22:23.640]And again, I'll end with a bit of gratitude.
- [00:22:25.960]We are so excited for you to be here.
- [00:22:28.520]We couldn't.
- [00:22:29.160]We can't wait to move in and we'll see you soon.
- [00:22:32.200]Take good care.
